When Beyonce announced the re-release of her fifth album last week, some lamented on the meaty price-point of the newly christened ‘Platinum Edition’.
Indeed, despite the project featuring new songs, remixes and being marketed as more a collectors item than a full-on reboot, the $30 / £30 cost irked a few – namely many who purchased the original LP last year.
They need not fret, though.
Because, today it’s been announced that the new material will also be available as a standalone EP digitally.

Retailing at $8.99, the ‘Beyonce’ “add on pack” will arrive on the same day as the full re-release (November 24th) and is currently available for pre-order.

Much better but still not worth paying 100 South African Rands for! The problem here (as a fan) is not paying, the problem is WHAT AM I PAYING FOR in other words value for my money.
So what am I paying for really? It seems I’m paying for just TWO new songs and a bunch of remixes. When you bought the album barely 12 months ago and it comes out again with almost identical features and a few unnecessary features (booklet and that stupid calendar), that to me screams racket!
We watched the ten HBO performances, WHY DO YOU WANT US TO BUY THEM WHEN WE KNOW YOU’RE GOING TO RELEASE A MRS. CARTER SHOW DVD?
The sad truth is, Beyonce doesn’t force anyone to spend their money on her however I’d hope that there is some level of respect for people who appreciate her art and the way she runs the business side of her career shows that she has everything but respect for her fans, retail-wise.
Can she also consider that some of us are young doctors who are working in a semi-developed country with a corrupt and uncooperative government and a joke of a health department, 12 hour shifts and we want to get home after touching sick people for half the day and listen to Beyonce…OK I’M GOING OFF-TOPIC HERE……………….anyway can she just consider that we actually WORK for our money also, so please don’t rob us in broad daylight now come on.
So MY solution: pirate the two new songs, I couldn’t care less for a bloody remix, and wait for the Mrs Carter Show DVD to come out (Now that I’m willing to spend my money on). RANT OVER.
