Nicole Scherzinger returned to The X Factor UK tonight and made quite the mark when she performed new single ‘Run’.

The former judge had been at the centre of UK headlines prior to even stepping on stage due to an alleged rivalry with current panelist Cheryl Cole (who has said less than becoming things about her in the past). Yet, while the the ladies kept it cordial, an actual cord must have been unplugged, because Scherzinger suffered a lighting malfunction during the performance.

Like a seasoned professional, she soldiered on and soared with an awesome vocal showing. However, the outage seems to have jarred the former Pussycat Doll, who took to Instagram to explain the situation.

Peep the performance and Scherzinger’s words below…

Writing shortly after, she said to fans:

Thank u to the audience and fans at XF tonight for your support…I’m gutted that they had a malfunction with my entire production but wanted to share some photos from dress rehearsals of what we did planned for u. Hope you still enjoyed it. #Run

I’ll be truly honest, I don’t like her. But I almost cried this was such a beautiful performance and the song is speaking the truest of trues. #RUNNN LOL

Glad by the way that there was a production malfunction, those lazers would be out of place on this track. Loved it as it was

I still can’t get why she is a flop, when beyonce, Rihanna, etc can’t sing life but they are huge.

The thing with Nicole, she’s got an amazing (literally) voice and can dance and perform, she’s just releasing s***** singles or selling s** like Beyonce, Katy or Rihanna or some B-T-S drama we don’t know about.

I like that she made Killer Love but she seems more comfortable doing the PCD and Her Name Is Nicole music. She can also act, do opera and is gorgeous, she’s got everything going for her.

I think if she doesn’t do a commercial album, she should just go back to PCD, I mean it’s not like the other 4-5 are doing anything decent.

*Not selling s** – she even said she doesn’t dress s*** enough, not sure if she’s fibbing or not.

She sounds amazing and she is so gorgeous.

Wow I am so glad these lights were the way they were with the malfunction : it created a beautiful and intimate lighting and performance and put the emphasis on her voice and the lyrics – which was exactly what the song and her promo needed imo.
If she hadn’t said anything about it, I wouldn’t have known about the malfunction.

The malfunction was a good thing, we got to connect with her emotion. She must thank whoever switched it off otherwise she wouldn’t have been captivating.
