“Thank you.”

‘Cosmic Journey’ star Solange Knowles had that to say to ‘Wallace‘ rapper Azealia Banks today, praising the outspoken entertainer for speaking out against “cultural smudging” in the entertainment industry in an interview with radio station ‘Hot 97.’

Indeed, after Iggy Azalea claimed her attitude was to blame for the discrimination she faces as an African-American entertainer, Solange sympathised with the ‘Luxury’ belle today.

Her words below…

From the bottom up, she shared:

Oh shiit. This is gonna get serious. Sponge is joining the cause. A petition must be made to deport Iglo outta here.

    • BOOBIE December 19, 2014

This ho said Sponge. That’s a new one

    • I STAN(D) FOR TALENT December 19, 2014

No no no. I meant ‘Solange.’ I love her. Autocorrect/Typo error.

    • ashgino@gmail.com December 19, 2014

but Beyonce, her sister, had Iggy as opening act on her tour? this is all too confusing

      • J COLE NC December 19, 2014

Beyonce does whatever Jayz manipulates her into doing.
Iggy is signed to Def Jam.
Roc Nation is under Def Jam ….. (Yes Rihanna is still under Universal/Def Jam/Roc Nation regardless of reports)
Beyonce did it as a favor to Jayz

      • Lee December 20, 2014

That has nothing to do with her.

  2. Thetruth December 19, 2014

Iggy is watering down hip hop! If u r gonna be a white rapper follow in Eminems footsteps! He’s the only 1 who has mastered it; & at that well respected for his contribution to the genre.

    • Grande The Way December 19, 2014

Oh please, hip-hop was watered down years before Iggy when we let ringtone rappers flood the radio.

    • AmbeRussell December 19, 2014

You can’t point the finger at ggy when ppl cared more about chart success than actually talent yrs before iffy came out. Hell, decades. Remember they were doing the same thing once black eyes peas came out. But iggy isn’t the problem, it’s the ppl behind her, it’s the fans and it is the big names that continue to follow trends instead of creating them.

    • J COLE NC December 19, 2014

Mcklemore also respects the game. He has also acknowldeged bigotry in the music industry.
What annoys me is Iggy refusing to acknowlege racism in America

  3. Beysus December 19, 2014

    GO SOLANGE!!!

  4. J-Ho December 19, 2014

Most in the industry supports Azealia Banks they just won’t come out and say it publicly.

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

The industry is controlled by white men, why would they support a racist crazy black woman?

2: NO one cares. THEY CARE ABOUT MAKING MONEY. Iggy is booking stages and selling records. Her LP is near gold and she sold millions. SHE MAKES MONEY

THE WHITE MAN/ JEW CARES ABOUT MONEY, he does not care about some dark buut crying on hot 97

      • Wow December 20, 2014

F*** you. You racist piece of s***.

  5. Yawn December 19, 2014

Banks and Salon = two whiney flops. Typical blacks. “Life’s not fair, hand me some free $hit.”

    • Tyler December 19, 2014

Im sorry but don’t you have a Klu Klux Klan meeting that you should be tending to right about now?

  6. DanYiel Teflon December 19, 2014

Now I buy Solange music & Iggy music but Banks not a fan of carry on people….

    • TRUTH SERUM December 19, 2014

You totally missed the message but shame on me for expecting more from a krim Stan..

  7. Fancy BISH December 19, 2014

The interview was heartfelt and I like that she’s passionate about hip hop music and culture….but I hope this was just a time to vent because she shouldn’t feel defeated in any way….Iggy is having success, but nothing too cray…Iggy is still on her grind with modest sales and a smaller but growing fanbase…the only areas Iggy is ahead of Ms Banks in is attitude and approach….and make a hit song boo boo, something true to you…J Cole just released a song called Be Free that is pure FIRE chile…so emotional…Ms Banks should remix that….but let me say, that Ms Banks has some personality for days lol…just get smarter with the approach and put the attitude in a song, not on Twitter…

  8. MisdamenorFan December 19, 2014

    Basement Baby… dack rider

  9. Rosie December 19, 2014

The only reason she came for Iggy in the past few hours was because Iggy replied to her although the interview had nothing to do with her. So I see Azealia’s point now. It also helps that her album is very good.
It’s intreresting to see all these people behind her now. Very unlike just a few months ago when she was one of the most hated people in the industry.

  10. Anthony B December 19, 2014

YESSSS! Shut that flop Igor down!!

  11. Toohotfortv December 19, 2014

    Thank you, Azealia!

  12. Grande The Way December 19, 2014

Everything Iggy said about Azealia was true. I agree with what Banks was trying to say but her approach was wrong. There was no reason to bring in Iggy, especially given there history which goes deeper than the XXL cover. J. Cole practically said the same thing she did and people respect and are praising him for it. Once again, Azealia’s attempts are overshadowed by her beefs. Non-urban media outlets are paying the interview dust and focusing on the feud between her and Iggy. Iggy Azalea isn’t the issue, the industry is. Take aim at the industry, they’re the ones with the real power to make a change.

  13. tits mcgee December 19, 2014

Not surprised Solo gets it. India Arie is a musical goddess, but they put out a watered down clone like Colbie Callait , and presto, majority acceptance and accolades.

Same story, time after time. Ms. Banks was just brave enough to say it.

She is like the Sista Soulja, of this generation.

  14. Tyler December 19, 2014

    Yeeeessss Solange!!!!

  15. tits mcgee December 19, 2014

Solo is seeing the coonery 1st hand. Why is her amazing music not being pushed, but by her, and Rita Whora gets the Rock Nation, fashion, and Hollywood machines behind her?

Who has proven more talented? Not the one giving blumpkins to executives for success…

Let’s not act like we have no clue..

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

      ASK JAY Z?

  16. metzo December 19, 2014

I love how positive and humble Iggy stays throughout this all.
The girl is not a skilled rapper nor is she a good representation of the Hip Hop genre, but she’s just living her dreams. let her be. The Music industry is capitalist and they don’t care how talented you are if you can’t sell. Iggy’s success is just a reflection of the people who can see themselves or relate to her who are buying her records (Mostly white people, who also represent 60% of the U.S).
Although A.Banks made some interesting points in her interview, Iggy’s latest tweets of the negativity thrown upon her lately spoke nothing but the truth! Azeala Banks should focus more on her music and less on how other people are accepted in a genre. The Music industry needs variety.

(Now let the thumbs downs fly, no fvcks given 🙂 )

  17. AmbeRussell December 19, 2014

I am HERE for A. Banks message, BUT what is she doing to be a POSITIVE to keep the genre a live. It isn’t just white ppl using hip hop that is the down fall of it. It’s also black rappers who put on a front to be a thug or drug dealer, who make bad songs about doing Molly, and spreading a bad message in their lyrics. We don’t have a lot of rappers who we can say are role models for the youth. They rather talk about fuucking 200 girls and smoking weed than the struggle that a black kid has everyday.

  18. AmbeRussell December 19, 2014

Talent means NOTHING if ppl don’t care about what I have to say. A Banks very well can be a better rapper than iggy, but the problem I have with a banks is simple: I never understood what she says when she raps. It sounds like she is mumbling too much. Idk, but why hate iggy?

    • Tyler December 19, 2014

Because she made racially offensive remarks about black people, and other people of color…then goes on to make a caricature of black women in her songs. Oh, and to top it all off and she can cant rap. She’ll never be respected as an artist in the rap community.

  19. rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

I feel sorry for black women. They really have sealed their own fate. Expect more and more other races to be hired to do things black woman want to. I mean, look at the UK, they don’t sign black women over there; they only sign mixed race ro white girls.

Even Radio in the UK has Asian girls as the host. Black women have been shut out in the uK.

Jay z is her brother in law? He does not even SIGN BLACK WOMEN himself. He signs WHITE GIRLS. Why did he not sign that dark skin rapper? Cos black women are not marketable and they have the worst attitudes in the whole world. THE WORST. Banks is now racially dragging whitrs on twitter; good luck with that; oh, and she loves off white men. Ironic?

  20. rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

AB was never ever gonna be a star, even before iggy dot sign. i know this. AB was too dark. Dark women don’t make cos they are seen as ugly and they cannot be marketed. If she was beyonce color she would be famous and she would not pippin. Notice how redbones women don’t act like her? They have a market.

Her attitude. Showbiz is all about who who u know….she has pissed off EVERYONE

HER music is an acquired taste, it is not better, just cos it is eclectic. She is the same as Kelis. Iggy album lis better cos it is ACTUAL hip hop and not a mishap of EDM

  21. rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

LOL AB is a liability and record companies hate that. She blackmailed interscope; she said if u sign Iggy, I won’t sign. They chose tolet Iggy walk to def jam. Iggy went on to sell 13 million records.

AB sold………NOT EVEN A MILLION. LOL LOL HA HA HA HA HA H AH AHA HA

  22. the voice December 19, 2014

My issue with the music industry is the executives that have shut out RNB. That is why a lot of black women have ben shut out…..

Lets just imagine if Tinashe or Jhene Aiko recvd 1/4 of the promo dollar as Def Jam gave Iggy.
Why isnt RCA trying to crossover Tinashe?
She has crossover written all over her but her management has to do everything.
The black men that are in charge of Urban music depts are also a big problem……
BLACK MALE EXECUTIVE only care about rap and signing light skin RNB girls they are attracted to regardless of talent

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 19, 2014

Tinahse and Jhene are not black; they are mixed race.

  23. NeNe December 19, 2014

She s*** on onika and iggy
