R&B songbird Tweet has been flying over uncertain waters for many years, however it appears the time has finally arrived for the singer to coo her new tunes.
Because, almost a decade after the release of her sophomore album ‘It’s Me Again’, the star has announced that not only is her third LP coming soon, it’s being released on a major label, and will be moulded by the team who launched her into the minds of the masses – Timbaland and Missy Elliott.
Details below…
News of the exciting developments was revealed by Tweet herself during a recent interview with The Skorpion Show.
Describing the project as “pages from her diary”, the songstress also pointed out what it won’t be sounding like — her second album.
As some may remember, ‘It’s Me Again’ was released to little fanfare in 2005 and failed to capitalize on the buzz of her 2002 debut ‘Southern Hummingbird’; an occurrence she blamed on label politics in the insightful interview.
The time since has seen her signed to a number of independent deals which unfortunately didn’t yield any new music.
Yet, with the business side of her hustle seemingly back in shape, we’re all sorts of buzzed to her what she’s been baking!
Peep the insightful chat below…
yessss I can’t wait….It’s Me Again was soulful album but Southern Hummingbird was a lil more versatile and her vocals and harmonies are so on point.
-_- <— bet not be lyin
She based her whole career and sound off of Aaliyah’s song “it’s whatever”… Anyways, with her and Missy together again, it’ll give us a glimpse of what Aaliyahs music would sound like today because they have similar tones and she even does Aaliyah esque vocal styling and runs.
What are you talking about Aaliyah never sang soulfully like tweet
And tweet was singing backup during that time she didn’t get discovered or find her sound after Aaliyah died that was more missys sound than anything tbh
Um yes she did boo. Listen to Aaliyah “it’s whatever” than listen to Tweet “smoking cigarettes”. Tweet jacked Aaliyahs style. Even listen to Tweets songs “Oops oh my” and “Call Me” they both sound like Aaliyah songs. She even had Aaliyahs style and body movements in the music videos as if she studied her. Pretty sure missy and Timbo gave her leftover aaliyah records or created similar records for her to cope. They have slightly different tones but it’s just like Tweet covering an Aaliyah song… Different vocals but same vibe/energy. Tweet even sounds like Aaliyah at the end of “Call Me” she does an eerie run that sounds like Aaliyah. Do Ya research boo.
Agreed, Fat.
I can’t say im familiar with that particular song of aaliyahs but I don’t think tweet and aaliyah were in the same stratosphere vocally or creativity-wise. And that’s not a slight to either one.
The DELUSION!!!
So please tell me what instruments aaliyah played.
b****** your delusional and you clearly don’t know what you are talking about tweet and Aaliyah sounds and style were WORLDS APART you clearly don’t know aaliyahs artistry and you clearly don’t even know what direction she was headed to for her 4th slum
Preach! They are like NOTHING alike. I truly don’t know what she’s hearing.
“It’s Whatever” is hands down my favorite Aaliyah song of all time. Stunning song. But it has nothing to do with Tweet’s artistry at all. Tweet and Aaliyah have absolutely nothing musically in common. Sorry. Really bad comparison.
Tweet is an ORIGINAL artist.
Aaliyah could never….
The end…
REALLY?? What are u drinking? First of all, Tweet is an innovator, musician, and soulful singer with impeccable vocal quality. She is NOTHING like Aaliyah. Tweet is in an entirely different league than Aaliyah was. Check Tweet’s resume and re-evaluate your statement. Baby, she come from CHURCH.
Glad to hear Tweet is making new music. Deborah C**’s new single “Kinda Miss You” drops Feb. 3rd!
At one point she complained that Oops oh my crafted by missy wasnt really her style and didnt reflect her music. Maybe she realised she needs a hit and is going back to missy and tim
I Loved “Southern Hummingbird” album & she really sang her style is effortlessly better then Aaliyah’s she was better off a Model/Actress singer no I’m sorry!!
Kevin has a nasty attitude. I will not give him a click.
Welcome back Tweet, the game needs you.
Love Tweet. Side note, those two f*** are disgusting.
I’ll be looking out for her project. I’m not familiar with her music outside of her singles, which I liked.
props on landing another deal, Tweet! It’s Me Again is definitely filled with great vocals… but it’s boring as hell on some parts. Cab Ride & Iceberg tho <3
Love Tweet <3
Wow! Her “It’s ME Again” was one of those albums you could listen to all the way through. I didn’t have her first album but heard good things about it. Can’t wait for this new one. I’ll def be buying it. 😉
Tweet sounds like a singer named Latoiya Williams not Aaliyah. I like Tweet. Taxi was my song. What label is she signed with….I cant stand those two phags so i wont watch the video.
Um, Tweet released an EP in 2013, do your homework Sam!!!
But other than that, I’m super excited, I love Tweet!
Glad to see Tweet is back at it hopefully going back to her roots will help her find the success she has been seeking for so long.
Yes Tweet!! Please give me another dark masterpiece like “Southern Hummingbird.” Still one of my favorite albums ever! The singles are not reflective of what Tweet is actually about. Listen to “Drunk” to understand the depth of Tweet.
“It’s Me Again” was a complete step down from “Southern Hummingbird.” I loved “Iceberg,” “I’m Done,” and the brilliant “Cab Ride,” but as a whole, not even close.
The never released album “Love, Tweet” had some stellar tracks on it: “Crusin’,” “Trouble,” “Love Again,” and “C 4EVA” just to name a few.
The “Simply Tweet” EP was, of course, great.
I’ve been SO waiting on her to drop this album. She is a true gem shining in the mediocrity of mainstream music.
OMG…this is AWESOME NEWS!!! I miss Tweet!
YEEAAAA TWEET!!!! I’m so glad to hear this news!!! Let’s go!!!!
I swear TGJ and I are sync this week. Just last night after reflecting on Aaliyah, my friend brought up Tweet. I loved that Southern Hummingbird album. I used to play it over and over again. I think she’s so beautiful. I wish her well.
I truly adore Tweet and her artistry. Southern Hummingbird was and still is a timeless body of work.
**Side note** Tweet’s daughter really killed this interview for me. She didn’t add any value and I wasn’t a fan of her attitude. If she is an aspiring “artist”, she needs to check herself.
that’s great news!
and a little history lesson for y’all: Tweet’s been making music with Tim and Missy long before Aaliyah’s first album was even released. she was part of Da Bassment crew with artists like Tim, Missy, Playa, Ginuwine, Magoo and a buncha others. Tweet was part of a trio called “Sugah”. the whole project/label was run by DeVante Swing of Jodeci.
now i’m a HUGE Aaliyah fan. have been since childhood. but if anything, babygirl’s music production (mostly Tim and Missy) and even singing style (mostly Missy and Static) was heavily influenced by Da Bassment. her voice was molded to THEIR swag and style, which means Tweet PREDATES Aaliyah.
not that any of this kinda competitive s*** matters, just wanted to set the record straight. Tweet’s been around for quite a while. only reason ppl thought she was a ‘replacement Aaliyah’ when “Oops” first dropped was cos she was never an established artist (solo or group) and her stuff never got released, even though she was putting in work for a number of years since the early 90s.
give credit where credit’s due and stop talkin smack bout the southern hummingbird.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful bit of music and artist education. Now we all know, right?
No need for bitterness now. Acceptance relieves the heart. 😀
* replays ‘Cab Ride’ *
further note: one of the first songs Tim and Missy played to Aaliyah during the “One In A Million” sessions was called ‘Sugar & Spice’, originally recorded by Tweet’s group “Sugah”. Aaliyah got a lot of her vocal mannerisms from Da Bassment’s overall style, and chronologically speaking, her voice would’ve been molded by Missy initially, but everyone in the camp had the same kinda swaggadocious vocal style, which means babygirl would’ve picked up on and learned from ppl like Missy, Tweet, and later on down the line, Static.

So excited for new Tweet music.
Crusin and Cab Ride remain on repeat. Incredible artist.
I encourage everyone to break out their favorite Tweet songs. Ignore parasites like @Tasha and relish in the great, eclectic R&B we’ve already received this year and it’s only January.
1) Jazmine Sullivan- Reality Show
2) Dawn Richard- Blackheart
If Tweet joins the brilliance of these two, we’re good.
