Nicki Minaj and Beyonce aren’t the only Hip Hop & R&B pals rubbing shoulders this weekend.
For, Saturday night saw Kanye West & Usher arrive at Washington, D.C’s Warner Theatre for the eighth annual BET Honors, where they were honoured for their contribution to music and the arts.
Accompanied by his wife Kim Kardashian, West joined Usher to be celebrated alongside a number of other African-American trailblazers in theatre, business and technology.

This year’s honourees also included Phylicia Rashad, Tony Award-winning actress; John W. Thompson, Chairman of Microsoft and CEO of Virtual Instruments and Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, all celebrated for their contributions to their respective fields and who watched an emotional Usher accept his award from New Jack Swing entertainer Bobby Brown.
At another point, West looked on as his praises were sung by Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Common via a prerecorded video before he picked up the Visionary award.

I saw the photo of Usher being moved to tears. Aww, it’s good to see him finally being recognized for the work he’s put in over the past two decades. He’s always been somewhat overlooked in that aspect in comparison to the other big pop stars from his peer group (Bey, Jt and Brit) so I’m sure it meant a lot to him. As for Kanye, he’s very much so deserving of this honor as his catalog of albums and producer credits are excellent. Congrats to them and the other honorees.
