Madonna: “Kanye West Is The Black Madonna”

Kanye West has been given a brand new moniker…by Madonna.

Yes, after she teased their forthcoming collaboration, she has declared that he is the black…her.

Her words below…

Speaking to the New York Daily News, she shared:

Kanye is the black Madonna. We know, and recognise, that we have that in common. We’re comrades in the envelope-pushing genre.

Madge’s comments come before the release of her brand new album ‘Rebel Heart’ and West’s forthcoming LP, set to mark his first since his recent joining of Jay Brown’s Roc Nation.

She also addressed the deaths of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston in the same interview, sharing:

I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing for over three decades, so in many ways I feel like a survivor. I see that many of my peers, and friends, and people I collaborated with are no longer with us.

That gave me pause. I said, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I made it this far.’ That was a catalyst for me.

Do you agree?

Is she shading Rihanna, the person who will replace her? Oh f**** it, I love her anyway. This is the queen right here, not someone who poses half-naked in front of her child and let’s her listen to “LOUD” which has a parental advisory warning. Slùt.

Girl, as a Pop star its Rihanna. DUH!

      • S****** Blonde March 8, 2015

        @TheElusiveLamb
        Close in terms of what?

      • TheElusiveLamb March 8, 2015

Discography mainly. Also, who do you think does follows her career blueprint up to par with your standards?

      • S****** Blonde March 8, 2015

Well, i think Rihanna’s discography is respectable but there are other artists like Lady Gaga who discography is very similar to Madonna’s one. The same can be say about who’s following her footsteps, pretty much every female pop star and they should if they want to have a long career.

      • TheElusiveLamb March 8, 2015

        That’s nice. I agree.

  6. TheElusiveLamb March 8, 2015

Ok so if we’re giving out names with a reach, Kendrick Lamar is Janet Jackson, J. Cole is Whitney Houston, and Jay-Z is Celine Dion. Lol… If Madonna thinks that though, she can, but I don’t see it. *Prince Legends Panel voice”

Grandonna says anything for attention these days.

  7. Quinton251 aka Lil Wayne Stan March 8, 2015

To bad he doesn’t have the Album & Single sales as Madonna, but he is a genius I will admit that.

    • Ciara The Great March 8, 2015

Kanye is not a studio made queen like Madonna. He didn’t have to steal black culture to get put on either.

  8. truthtea March 8, 2015

You cannot compare Madonnas album sales to Rihannas. Mainly because most of Rih’s sales are singles sales and Madonnas are actual physical album sales.

    • Mark111 March 8, 2015

Different times, just because they were physical doesn’t mean better. We’re in a digital age, it is what it is. Rihanna will surpass Granny simply because greats cling to HER, while Madonna clings on the youth and hate on other strong women.

      • JOHNVIDAL March 8, 2015

How is Rihanna going to surpass Madonna in sales? Not even in digital ones. Rihanna has sold around 30 million albums and Madonna is over 200 million albums. I don´t see it boy LOL At this rate even Taylor Swift with her American sales alone will end selling more albums than Rihanna´s whole career.
I´m leaving singles sales on a side on purpose. You can´t compare. If what you are trying is telling us that Rihanna´s singles sales equal Madonna´s album sales then just stop it. These cheap digital singles so easy to get have nothing on real albums. Like I said I´m not looking down on digital sales, it´s the way it is nowadays, but I´ll take into account the album sales, not the cheap digital singles as if they were anywhere near as relevant as album sales.

      • Mark111 March 8, 2015

Madonna didn’t sell 200 million ALBUMS, it’s records. So why can’t Rihanna singles count when MaGranny is? Plus back then they counted tons of stuff as a record sell. A sale is a sale. It’s record sold that everyone brags about. Not albums.

      • Love Life March 8, 2015

Rihanna is not surpassing anybody. Don’t be delusional. Madonna has sold more in the states alone than Rihanna has ww.

  9. Mark111 March 8, 2015

Why would you want to be the Black version of someone? I would agree except Ye has talent, yet his mouth draws the headlines. MaGranny doesn’t, she did nothing that hookers on the street of NYC been doing for decades. Musically, MaGranny is NOTHING and having 89 props on stages does not equal a great show.

  10. Stephy. March 8, 2015

“You cannot compare Madonnas album sales to Rihannas.”

I’m guessing this is true in some ways… But, saying Rihanna is gonna surpass Madonna in any way shape or form is beyond delusional. She nor anyone else will ever catch Grandma in sales. Singles are CHEAP & non-respectable. Madonna will ALWAYS remain the BEST SELLING female artist in history.

I think its time for them to separate Madonna, Mariah, Celine etc… “Sales” away from this Digital era “sales”…

  12. JOHNVIDAL March 8, 2015

She is right when she says she feels like a survivor. @s****** blonde and I have agreed in the past that Madonna and Mariah Carey is real survivors, they faced incredibly hard times for artists at the top, when pressure was unreal and standards so high, and then boicot attempts and many other things. They are still here and having a pretty good mature life. I´m heartbroken knowing the megatalented Whitney the voice Houston couldn´t make it for example. Celine would be another one but she really didn´t play the pop game which often destroys these stars, so she was always going to end fine.

    • Linda March 8, 2015

What do you mean she didn’t “play the pop game”

      • TheElusiveLamb March 8, 2015

Celine’s genre is adult contemporary. This also applies to Barbara Streisand. Mariah & Madonna are considered pop stars, and while Whitney (RIP) was mainly R&B, she too was considered a pop star.

      • JOHNVIDAL March 9, 2015

She always had more balance in her personal life plus stopped any attempt from the media to start s*** about her personal business. She did it by telling everyone how her life is, she never had anything to hide and chose to show her whole family, so that she didn´t have to face speculations or paparazzis.
That, and what @theelusivelamb said too. Although Celine Dion was the biggest star from 1996 to 2000 and not even her adult contemporary appeal-genre could have stopped fame or media to destroy her if it weren´t for her decision to be natural and show it all, plus having balance in her life.

  13. ren March 8, 2015

    Oh

  14. Linda March 8, 2015

What do you mean she didn’t “play the pop game”

  15. Dev March 8, 2015

Oh, Madonnas is saying that Kanye is a queen,
    Okay, we knew that.

  16. Molly March 8, 2015

Lol I thought Rihanna was the black Madonna. ki

  17. Mark111 March 8, 2015

Rihanna stated in the facebook interview (I’m sure you haters watched, because you all are always on her c***.) That she’s fine with being Rihanna. BAM!

  18. #JACKIE March 8, 2015

    Rihanna loses again lmfao

    • Brian310 March 9, 2015

But Madonna has acknowledged Rihanna before can’t say the same about Ciara being mentioned by Janet.

  19. Royalkev March 8, 2015

I had to take this one in for a moment, but I actually see what Madonna is saying. I think her and ‘Ye have one thing they share in common … nerve! For me, that’s where it begins and ends. What moves them both and causes them to take a stand seems to be night and day!

As for being a survivor, I actually have to agree with her. It appears that she is on paper! She’s definitely doing things that none of her peers are doing this decade. Depending on how some view it, it will all appear to be impressive. It’s obvious that the one thing Madonna knows how to do is survive. Imo, I think MJ, Whitney and Janet walked a straight and narrow line when it came to their careers. They were the type “A” artists. They were talented and let the music sell itself (no gimmicks), started eras from scratch (taking breaks in between to evolve), believed in putting on a dynamic show (and not compromising that). To “survive” it’s evident that takes so much more than that and Madonna is a true example of the thing that it takes (which has nothing to do with the things I’ve listed).

    • S****** Blonde March 8, 2015

Your comment is cute, trust me, it really is.

      #AlwaysAheadOfHerTime.

  20. LDN Chick March 8, 2015

Death. Madonna has even praised Beyoce before she praised Rihanna. What happened to the black Madge G****?

    • Tyler March 8, 2015

      Hahaha True dat!

  21. LB March 8, 2015

I love Madonna but I don’t think I can call Kanye the next Madonna simply because of one reason, Kanye is talented.

To be honest, Kanye is a musical genius, but he has a screw loose and is a loose canon, I would put Kanye is his own league, I would say Kanye is if Tupac and Bjork had a baby, that’s where I see him.

    • S****** Blonde March 8, 2015

Well, while i think Kanye is very talented i don’t think he is a musical genius, he is very creative, far from being original though, nothing wrong with that, i think both share the ‘risky’ thing, that’s the way i see it, other than that they’re nothing alike.

      • LB March 8, 2015

“he is very creative, far from being original though, nothing wrong with that, i think both share the ‘risky’ thing, that’s the way i see it, other than that they’re nothing alike.”

I 100% agree with you on that one Blondie, but I will agree to disagree with you on the other one. Where have to been anyway, been an infestation of roaches, special ed students and fuckery on this blog this past few days.

  22. Sherry March 8, 2015

Kanye is a musical genius. I love him no matter what anyone says. He’s always been so passionate about his art. He’s a crazy Gemini though, just like Lauryn Hill!

  23. LB March 8, 2015

Please stop it, Rihanna is not the black anything, Rihanna is RIHANNA, she is quoted among legends, which is why they want to work with her.

She has created her own lane, especially in the digital era. If people will strive to break digital records, they’ll aim to break hers.

    • Monica Fan March 8, 2015

Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Adele are already snatching her wig and it aint even been 10 years yet.

      • LB March 8, 2015

I’m sure Monica would love to as well.

      • Monica Fan March 8, 2015

Nah Monica is just fine as a classic R&B veteran thanks. She does not need todays pop records to secure that status.

      • LB March 8, 2015

I don’t think Monica is an R&B anything but a singer, I looked at her album sales, not impressed.

  24. LB March 8, 2015

She nor anyone else will ever catch Grandma in sales. Singles are CHEAP & non-respectable. Madonna will ALWAYS remain the BEST SELLING female artist in history.

Cassettes which were counted as an album sale were also very cheap, in fact cheaper than a digital copy of an album. By that logic, Mariah Carey is superior to all because she came out when cassettes were basically phased out.

    • JOHNVIDAL March 9, 2015

That´s not the point. We are accepting digital albums as album sales. What we are saying is that Madonna´s album sales will never be surpassed by Rihanna when the girl has barely sold 30 million copies after 7 albums, counting the digital ones too.
What we will not accept is basic digital singles being counted by these basic artists stans as album sales. No way that´s the same.

  25. Monica Fan March 8, 2015

I agree somewhat when it comes to musicality and being unique.

  26. Meteorite March 8, 2015

Madonna said “We’re comrades in the envelope-pushing genre.” I get what Madonna means by that but I think there are other people out there who genre hope. Most notably Christina Aguilera, she’s always switching wigs. But it is said to think that her peers are fading out and that must be eerie

  27. Brandy stan March 8, 2015

Both Madonna and Rihanna are talentless h***, so it doesn’t matter who’s sold more. And the Navy stay trying to make Rihanna bigger than she actually is, ugh.

  28. coolness March 8, 2015

I do get what she’s saying. Kanye does push boundaries and a lot of buttons – something Madge did a lot in her prime and is STILL doing. I don’t know how Kanye himself will take this comment because I’d rather be seen as my own artist than a version of someone else. As for being a survivor, she clearly did not lie. MJ and Whitney fell into the wrath of drugs and sadly passed away while Janet’s career and legacy took a serious hit after the Superbowl. Madonna, Mariah (she’s having a rough time now though) and Prince are the only ones from that era who are still out here doing their thing. Gotta respect that.

    • Royalkev March 9, 2015

Sade has actually seen success for 30+ years. I keep forgetting about her.

      • JOHNVIDAL March 9, 2015

But if Sade had released albums at the rate Madonna or Mariah have, she probably wouldn´t be commercially relevant anymore everytime she releases an album now. It´s a different case.

      • RoyalKev March 9, 2015

Well, that’s one way to see it! I think it’s a bit dismissive to not credit Sade for what she’s accomplished. It’s very difficult to debut in the 80’s and in 2010 earn a #1 platinum album (Soldier of Love). I personally think any superstar rushing albums during the height of their fame will increase their sales. Britney put out 2 back to back and did over 50+ million , then never saw that kind of success again for over a decade. Maintaining relevancy over an ACTIVE 30 year period is quite impressive.

      • Brian310 March 9, 2015

How does that even matter?…the fact that she takes her time between albums just shows she is all about her music and not about fame and fortune. Her music is universal, had she kept releasing she would have sold more albums and become richer than she already is.

  29. Stephy. March 9, 2015

“Cassettes which were counted as an album sale were also very cheap, in fact cheaper than a digital copy of an album. By that logic, Mariah Carey is superior to all because she came out when cassettes were basically phased out.”]

Although this maybe true LovelyBird… Madonna still wins in overall RECORD sales. Her singles were sold for about $2.50 – $6.99 back in the day. Cassettes ranged from about $5.99 – $9.99 back in the day. Both are still higher than $1.29 singles. Between 1991 – Now… The SOUNDSCAN era. Madonna has sold an additional 30+ million ALBUMS (most being cd’s not cassettes) in America alone. To me, Madonna sales will never be beaten. Unless, someone like Taylor Swift or Adele keeps selling albums like they’re doing on a consistent basis.

    • JOHNVIDAL March 9, 2015

It´s so f****** obvious someone like Rihanna will never see the sales Madonna, Mariah or Celine have seen. I don´t know why they fight.
