Report: Mariah Carey Cleans House / Hires New Management & Publicist

In recent years, Mariah Carey‘s music and image have been slammed for being stuck in a time warp.

However, after signing with L.A Reid’s Epic Records last month (a move which brings her back to the Sony Music family), it appears Mimi is looking to wipe the slate clean in more ways than one.

Details below…

According to Page Six, the 45-year-old diva has parted ways with her publicist of 15 years, Cindi Berger, and has signed with Chris Chambers (pictured with the star and Reid below). Renown, especially in the Urban arena, Chambers’ clientele has included the likes of Drake and Lil Wayne.

There has also been some conundrum about who’s managing the songbird these days, after she parted ways with Jermaine Dupri last summer.

The mystery has since been solved.

Carey has hired TV producers/managers Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher to represent her. Though more renown for their work in television, both are highly respected in the entertainment sphere.

On the changes, a source explained:

“Mariah is creating a whole new team around her. New life, new relationships, new label, new management, new publicist, new residency, new, well, everything.

[She is] more focused. [She’s] done a lot of soul-searching . . . and when she went into the studio to start work on her new album, she felt more happy and free than she ever had and realized she wanted a fresh start.”

All of the moving and shaking takes place as she gears up for the launch of her Las Vegas ‘#1’s’ residency, which kicks off May 6th.

*****************

It’s awesome to see Mimi implementing some much needed change in her team.

That said, we hope she’s also readying change within herself too. Because, there’s little a manager or publicist can do if she keeps serving up terrible vocals or spilling out of dresses that would have fit fifteen years ago.

Her image and profile as a performer need a major overhaul, as such we hope that’s at the top of her agenda and at the center of her mood board.

Your thoughts?

I love Mariah, i’m definitely looking forward to what’s ahead.

    • Terri April 9, 2015

      This is an exciting time for lambs but she still let FADED, CRY and CAMUFLOGE fall by the sidelines because she wanted out her def jam deal;

It’s Her, not doing vocal wRmups, HER not changing arrangements so she can sing live, do an acoustic performance if you can really sing.

She claims to be a real SANGER, so show us the goods hunnie???

Thanks for nothing—-should have been a single, fly like a bird should have been performed more and extended to showcase her gospel vocals

      • Faf April 9, 2015

Just a question : what do you think any of those songs would’ve done? Some songs are not meant to be singles even if they are well written and well sung

  2. cred01 April 9, 2015

Looking forward to hearing what she puts out. Classic Mariah with a current twist would be hot!

  3. Lake Erie April 9, 2015

Wow! This is going to be exciting. Can’t wait! If my senses are right, I hope I’m sensing another emancipation era?! 2.0 maybe?! Go MiMi!

This is the first article of Sam’s that I have enjoyed reading no shade just truth. More like this please. Mimi is the last of the greats we have got there’s only a few current artists out now that we will remember in years to come

  6. african music lover April 9, 2015

Dont care,i am only interested in music and i know she can still bring it on but only if she records songs that her current voice can handle and accept that her voice is no longer what it used to be…

    Love Mariah!

  9. Katy’sPrism April 9, 2015

She can do all that won’t change the fact that she has struggling vocals kii

    • Skyfall April 9, 2015

Your fave can do all she wants, but it still won’t stop here from being Mariahs lessor.

    • DEL BEY April 9, 2015

The real kii is the fact that Mariah can STILL sound better than Katy on some days, and that’s 30 years after her debut

    • TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

Trolling as a Kanter Payola now? You’re so f****** pathetic.

      • Katy’sPrism April 9, 2015

B**** please you know I told nothing but the truth no go find mariah relevance and voice and buy me I am the elusive flop while you at it 😆

    • Pat April 9, 2015

@Katy, its obvious you’re not a real Katy Perry fan and just a troll! You commented under that name knowing Katy struggles as well just to get a response that would start and argument. Get lost!!

      • Katy’sPrism April 9, 2015

Shut the f*** up f** was I talking to you? Now exit to the left and focus on getting Mooriah’s career back on track kii :lol :

      • Pat April 9, 2015

@Katy, it took u a while to respond. Did you lose your wifi connection?

  10. Skyfall April 9, 2015

I think it’s a great idea, gets new team that now how to work the times

  11. DEL BEY April 9, 2015

This news sounds promising, sounds like she could really bring it with this next era, here’s hoping she finds a new image to work with and reinvents herself successfully… go mimi

  12. Gee April 9, 2015

Everybody must make a change at some point. Something tells me after all the ups and downs recently Mariah is ready to put her career back on track. I wish her all the best during this important transition.

  13. Rihanna Lately April 9, 2015

This b**** can’t even sing anymore tbh. I love her during the 90s & 00s but this decade she doesn’t fit. Its ruled by Rih, Katy & Taylor. She doesn’t have a chance! Maybe she should be a stripper like beyonce to sell her records

    • lets be real April 9, 2015

If Beyonce is a stripper what is Rihanna?a common $2 ho?

    • TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

She has more of a chance at restoring her career than Riri has a chance of restoring her walls and being on key. She doesn’t need to fit. She’s already done the s*** that the ladies you listed did 20 years ago. She’s in a different market. Learn to STFU already. You are one of the most pressed f*** on this site.

      • Blue Ivy Rodriguez April 9, 2015

        That’s no rihanna fan, she’s a troll.

  14. NickiQueeeeen April 9, 2015

Im ready to be slayed by some vocals. Mariah murdered careers and civilians with her mindblowing vocals in the 90s and early to mid 2000’s. The only popular artists giving me vocal slayage these days are Lady Gaga (see If I Loose My Faith- Sting tribute), Beyonce (err thang), (sometimes Ariana- see Tatooed Heart @ ama’s) and J Hud but she barely gets time to slay. Come on Mariah teach these basic vocalists how to do it i.e. Katy Perry and sometimes Rihanna.

    • whut April 9, 2015

You lost me when you included beyonce in your ‘vocal slayage’ list. Her vocals are average at best.

    • Pat April 9, 2015

@Nikki, stop trying to put Bey’s vocals up there with the best, she sticks to ratchet songs for a reason!

    • JOHNVIDAL April 9, 2015

Jennifer Hudson is a screamer, big voiced lady, not pleasant. And Beyonce´s voice is not that big level, but yeah at least she can sing. Gaga can sing very very well too.
Neither of them have nothing on Mariah and the greats.

  15. #JACKIE April 9, 2015

Hopefully she will return to her classic sound and stop with the THOT music and I hope she drinks lots of hot tea for those struggle vocals 🙂

    • TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

I hope your mouth catches and drink lots of n** so your struggle walls can catch a break. 🙂

      • #JACKIE April 9, 2015

        @TheeLOOSiveLAME ; oh ok.
        @Cough Coihh I have a*** : Faith who? Girl bye…

      • Cough Cough April 9, 2015

@Jackie: Miss Cici did the same thing at the Michael Jackson tribute @BET. We were expecting a dance slay from Cici but instead she gave us a stripped down acoustic version of MJ. It was just her, a mic, a stool and a whole lot of whispering/struggling. Miss thing thought it was cute to sing a ballad on a day you had real vocalists singing. No Cici, just no.

    • Cough Cough April 9, 2015

But the real struggle is that “awaaaaaaay awaaaaaaay ayyy” Miss Cici calls herself givin in “iBet”. It was even funnier this past weekend when she did it on “black girls rock” and then immediately after Faith Evans came out and showed her how a real singer does a slow song.

    • Ciara the Flop April 9, 2015

But when will Ciara? When will Ciara not have a struggle vocal for the first time in her alleged career? When will Ciara stop BEING a THOT? When will Ciara stop singing thot music? When will Ciara stop being slayed by Rihanna on social media? When will Ciara have a #1 single again? When will Ciara sell more than 100k album on the first week? When will Ciara stop playing herself as the fourth baby momma to a never-was rapper? Again, when will Ciara???

  16. Cough Cough April 9, 2015

Mariah makes good music and that’s all I’m concerned about. Her last album was really good and I believe her talent in general will keep her around forever but I wouldn’t mind her trying new things musically. Stop giving her advice on what she needs to do to stay current with CHILDREN. She’s a batty “old” legend that can do what she wants because she has earned the stripes. Also I do agree she needs to work on is her vocal consistency. Other than that she is grown and rich and will continue to make music regardless of what these chart obsessed queens who write this blog say.

    • TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

Preach! *throws twenty in offering bowl*

    • Ciara the Flop April 9, 2015

You just gave me life this morning.

  17. Mark111 April 9, 2015

Not being shady, but she need to pick up a vocal couch and a personal trainer. I can’t believe she let JD “manage” her last era, talk about MESS. She’s only 45, so she’s not old, but she do need to make more mature music amd leave the latest rapper crap alone. She’s am amazing writer amd need to rearrange her classics to fit jer voice today.

  18. Kemar (@S_C_Jr on Twitter) April 9, 2015

I feel like good things are coming. Now only thing left is to take care of her voice and to be consistent with her performances. I love seeing all my favorite artists win. Good luck Mariah!

  19. TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

Anyone else find it funny how Jacko the Cryptic loves to come to other artists posts, shade, and then cry victim when the shade is returned? The most pressed f** to ever troll TGJ…

    • #JACKIE April 9, 2015

You love me though b**** your always in my mentions or talking about me with your ugly struggle ass!!!

      • TheElusiveLamb April 9, 2015

Please give name me the last time I CAME for you, bc on every Mariah post, you’re here throwing shade and getting mad bc someone shades you back.

      • Jose April 9, 2015

That Jackie thing is a troll y’all should ignore it

      • #JACKIE April 9, 2015

Honey they can’t ignore me b**** I could say the sky is blue and these h*** will start coming for Ciara like I give a f***. MY IMPACT IS REAL OUT HERE kii

  20. Blue Ivy Rodriguez April 9, 2015

Mimi should sing about her weight so she could the “thick” american audience as well as mothers who gained a lot of weight during their pregnancy, her voice isn’t as powerful it was in her prime but she could still sing and her music still does something to me. I don’t know why ppl hated The Elusive Chantese, I thought it was great!

  21. Stephon April 9, 2015

Why’s this Basic Perry fan on all Mariah’s articles, taliking shitt about her? Are you that bored with Kathryn’s lame ass vocals & Disney Channel discography?

Anyways, this is great for MC. I hope she comes back with a more classic sound. Also, she needs to re-arrange ALL SONGS (old & new) for her NEW voice. I’ve been seeing some leaked videos of her “Demo Tapes” on Youtube. She should re-released the 25th Anniversary of Mariah Carey… That would be so cool. Whitney & Clive did it back in 2010. I wouldn’t mind it being done for MC. Mariah has OVER 20 unreleased songs from her debut era. The Lambs want to hear everything. Demo’s, unreleased tracks etc… Good Luck MC.

  22. whut April 9, 2015

Only problem I see is her still aligning herself with the ¨urban¨ sound. That tells me her new music will just be more of the same that we’ve been getting. Her decline started when she ¨ghettofied¨ her music and image. Her name and status was made on POP music; that’s what she needs to get back to in order to truly redeem herself. Otherwise, it will just be the same package with different wrapping.

    • Stephon April 9, 2015

SHE WAS NEVER MADE ON POP MUSIC! HER MUSIC WAS ALWAYS R&B SOUL FUSSED WITH POP!

  23. DEL BEY April 9, 2015

Some of my favourite Mariah Songs are:

Any time You Need A Friend
    My All
    We Belong Together
    Close My Eyes
    Butterfly
    Everything Fades Away
    Open Arms
Petals…. and thats not all of them

  24. Teflon Boy April 9, 2015

A fresh new team who know how to work with today’s media is a great move for her promo game. In terms of image I feel a bit of time with a personal trainer would definitely help her image as like it or not, her looks have always been a big part of her appeal. Of course the voice and material cemented her talent but Mariah was every builders secret wet-dream after Kylie Minogue lol the Aretha/Adele route is not for her. Lastly, in terms of material I personally love her on R&B/Pop/Hiphop however I would love to see her be a little more experimental in terms of sound.., think Aaliyah’s final album or Little Dragon.., i.e. sparse digital soundscapes for her voice to dominate. I want her to work a fresher sound in general.

  25. JOHNVIDAL April 9, 2015

Another tired essay about Mariah Carey? Really Sam? How is it even possible to turn good news into a shady post? Why do you feel teh need to say her music has been slammed for being stuck… when LOVED her last album????? As well as #beautiful? Or her previous album Merry xmas II You, which you also loved to the point her duet with her mum made your TOP 5 songs of 2010??? (yes with a xmas song).

Really, it´s not even new or funny, you write exactly the same always. She´s not a lessor who leaves much to desire, like one of those you support. She is a legend, and the fact that she keeps going and has survived (like Madonna) when around 90% of artists can´t do it destroys all your theories and pressed rants.

Congrats to Mariah to creating a whole new group of people around her. Changes like this are always good after a while.

  26. Anastasia Beaverhousen (aka T.I.T.S.) April 9, 2015

I’m just happy Jermaine and Randy are in her rearview mirror. She needs proper management.

I want new music Mimi! Glad she is making boss moves…
