6 years may have separated her from 2008’s ‘The Declaration’ and her most recent album ‘Braveheart’ (2014), but Grammy-winning R&B singer Ashanti is now assuring fans that it won’t be another 6 years before they get new music.

Taking to FOX’s ‘Good Day NY’ this past weekend, the ‘Happy’ hitmaker was on hand spreading ‘Mother’s Day’ cheer by performing a song she wrote with R&B legend Babyface for her own mother/manager.  Before closing out her visit, the diva also confirmed she is working on a new album, with its lead single coming before the summer’s end!

No one cares about that washed up China doll. Stop making that bittch relevant again, there’s a new sheriff in town.

      • LIL’ KIM IS THE G.O.A.T. May 14, 2015

B****, you is just mad because you know the Queen Bee is coming back to give your copycat fave some more things to cheaply reproduce. That stinking sewer rat that you stan for is DONE OUTCHEA! Six months later and that ho still ain’t sold a million copies of her Pinkslip album WORLDWIDE. That’s what you call a WASHED ho. Three albums in and that ho is already flopping? Queen of Rap Lil’ Kim’s third album sold 1.1 million copies in the US alone.

How is that Pinkslip arena tour doing, sis? Tickets are being sold at 90% off on Groupon because nobody is seeing it for Trashnika Garbaj. Poor Trashnika can’t even afford to pay her $40,000 rent anymore, so she had to move out of her mansion. Lil’ Kim OWNS her Alpine mansion. Hahahahahahahaha! Kim wins. Trashnika loses!

  3. Mark111 May 14, 2015

Well she can sell more indie than Ciara can on a major, so go!

    • credits May 14, 2015

      ^^^This!

  4. Rated R May 14, 2015

Ashanti is that chick , at least she knows who she wants to be musically and still sells .

    • SMH May 14, 2015

      28K is selling? Lmao

      • MovieAmi May 14, 2015

Look for Janet to do about the same number if her album ever even sees the light of day.

      • Rated R May 14, 2015

Given that she sold more than Ciara without Streaming plus being Independent . I call that selling and making a profit to be exact .

      • Ange May 14, 2015

Ashanti’s has CLASSIC TIMELESS HITS her first album shits on beyonces whole catalogue have a f***** seat

  5. Mr Music May 14, 2015

This is not new, It was on her 2008 “Declaration ” album.

  6. Quinton251 aka Lil Wayne Stan May 14, 2015

It seems like indie is the way to go, in today’s music industry. Go for it, although I didn’t listen to her last effort I heard it was pretty good. Not to mention she outsold ” you know who” ????

  7. Barb-wire May 14, 2015

    Slay girl!!!

  8. angela wesley May 14, 2015

That right Ashanti collaborate with babyface and make those
hits that you become famous for. Because your fans wants
to hear your music. I only like one or two songs off of
Braveheart, it probably would have been a good album if
it had not been push back so much.

  9. NT May 14, 2015

I’m excited for another Ashanti record, i have everyone she’s ever released. She’s talented.

  10. Royalkev May 14, 2015

This actually sounds good Ashanti! Keep making music as long as your heart desires to!

  11. TruthTea May 14, 2015

    ::sip truth tea::

I can’t hate Ashanti, get them coins indie.
At least you outsold Ciara and don’t have to pay back L.A. Reid

  12. TheElusiveLamb May 14, 2015

I think there will come a point where labels won’t be needed. Ashanti is making way more money with her 20k sold than some artists are will their 300-400k. I can’t hate on her for continuing to grow and making money. Good luck Ashanti.

    • Flippers May 14, 2015

Exactly what she said during a recent interview I agree 100% these artist on labels are selling but there not profiting much she’s getting all her money because she is her own boss and calls the shots ????

  13. shitiscrazy May 14, 2015

Ashan to didn’t do 20,000 numbers she did more

    • Lake Erie May 14, 2015

Yea, she sold Damn near 30,000

  14. DAT Dude May 14, 2015

Thank u Mrs. Ashanti I’m dying to hear what this single sounds like I love Braveheart hopefully we got more club bangers and ballads popping on this album.

  15. Lake Erie May 14, 2015

Her braveheart album was a very well put together body of work. I enjoyed it. A few of the songs (nowhere, braveheart and 3 words) was very reminiscent of her debut album, chapter 2 and concrete rose. Which reminded me of why I fell in love with her music. I enjoyed them all though, “count”, i got it, first love, early in the morning, all the joints. A lot of people slept on the “Braveheart” album. I just hope with the next one, she doesn’t keep changing dates.

  16. King of hearts May 14, 2015

I’m here for it. She’s indie and her last album moved more than Ciara, Jennifer Hudson, J.Lo, Jessie J, Jason Derulo, and Keyshia Cole. AND SHE GOT TO KEEP ALL HER MONEY. F*** up some commas Ashanti !!!!

  17. LC May 14, 2015

I enjoyed Braveheart so I’ll be awaiting this new album. I’m glad she’s not going to disappear for 5+ years like she did after The Declaration.

  18. SMH May 14, 2015

Um, her last 3 or 4 albums flopped hard, so why is everybody acting like she’s still this big star? This is 2015 not 2002.

    • Jamon May 14, 2015

      Concrete Rose went platinum

      • Jamon May 14, 2015

Her first 3,albums were multi platinum/platinum

  19. ontherun May 14, 2015

even tho her last album didn’t create much buzz it was a pretty solid effort and i actually enjoyed it. Roll on summer!

  20. jtpop May 14, 2015

I mean I guess it’s good that she gets to keep the majority of her profits as an indie, but as an indie artist her music has like little to no potential to receive commercial attention. Which makes her material less received and her name less viable in the mainstream. Even the urban market is basically overlooking her now. If she has to go indie now, then she should at least use that extra $$$ to hire big time management and agents to keep her name commercial. I want POP STAR Ashanti back. The one who had chart hits and was performing at the big award shows. This lower key indie version isn’t as exciting. JMO.

    • DAT Dude May 14, 2015

We all want PopStar Ashanti back. But good quality music not selling no more especially for her genre u seen Mariah last album also Brandy’s R&B just not selling these days no matter how much commercials or profit they put into it.. Today generation don’t now good music when they hear it.. Its all about image and critics now in days

      • Lake Erie May 14, 2015

Yes, I agree whole heartedly. This generation doesn’t know if realize music. I mean I know to each it’s own but these are pivotal artist we talking. I know are artist (veterans) want those #1 s again but I honestly think it may never happen. Just like they say people try to make Nicki Minaj the only female rapper, well think over all, it’s the same for all music to a “certain aspect” .

    • LC May 14, 2015

      @ jtpop,

I agree with you that Ashanti should be spending the extra cash on management that can getting her name popping again. Her biggest mistake was pulling that disappearing act after The Declaration came out. But with the right team behind her, she can make a name for herself again. It just feels like a lot of artists are suffering from the lack of a good team.

    • Truth May 14, 2015

I’m afraid that from here or out Ashanti fans are going to have to appreciate the actual music and not bask in the hype. Sooner or later all hit makers stop making hits and the fans have to adjust their perception and pride.

  21. Casual-T May 14, 2015

This time, Ashanti, please target the right songs. On Braveheart, 3 Words and First Real Love (esp FRL) didn’t get the attention that might have turned them into hits.
    *******************************************************
Also, the first single needs to be EVERYTHING — that magical career-making hit. Baby One More Time (Britney), Crazy in Love (Bey), Umbrella (Rih), Irreplaceable (Bey), Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen), and All About that Bass (Meghan Trainor) were all going to be hits regardless of who actually released them. I’m not referencing a particular sound, but that winner vibe. It can’t be just a single, but THE single.

  22. You wanna love it right bettor then my funky money May 15, 2015

    Good for Ashanti

  23. checkyourself May 15, 2015

Would this chicken head ashanti girl just thrw in the towel already?! Lol Braveheart was horrid! Ashanti just isn’t anything without the Murda Inc. Team behind her.. you know.. Irv & J Rule. All she is nowadays is an instagram model. Why do you think this girl went from success to the bottom? because she no longer had her creator Irv fighting to make her relevant anymore. Jackie is better than Braveheart hands down.. even if it only sold about 19k in the first week of its release. I cant believe ashanti still has any fans checking for new music from her!Lol stop living in the past I say to you people… ashanti will never be the 2002 ashanti ever again.. and if you dont believe me.. i have one word for you… Breaveheart Lol
