Pop queen Janet Jackson rocked the music industry over the weekend with confirmation of a new album and world tour.
In the time since, speculation has been rife about the specifics of the project. When will it arrive? Which label is releasing it? And what kind of tour is she prepping?
While concrete details are scarce, new reports are suggesting the legendary diva is mulling over signing a lucrative deal with Live Nation – which would encompass the music and touring aspects of her return.

Janet Jackson’s new album. We think it’s called “Conversations in a Cafe.” We know it’s produced by Jimmy Jam Harris and Terry Lewis of FlyteTime, her long time musical collaborators. We also know it’s NOT with L.A. Reid at Epic (See: ‘Discipline)’, or at Atlantic Records. It’s probably not ready for July 10th, I’ve heard. It’s still being worked on.
However: the word is that Janet may be making a 360 deal with LiveNation, a la Madonna or U2 or Nickelback. In that case, LiveNation would handle the tour and license “Conversations.” Janet’s tour is going to be key to the whole thing. I think it could be HUGE. She cooled off a few years ago, got married, took time off. People miss her. With the right music she can make a big comeback now.
Why LiveNation? Let’s be reasonable. Janet’s not doing a deal with AEGLive, after Michael’s death etc. Right? And after album crashes from JLO, Mariah, and others, someone has explained to her that albums by artists of a certain age are not going to sell 1 million copies. So a 360 deal is just right.
Harris and Jackson have been dropping clues for weeks, on Twitter.
And which label? I could see Warner Bros., which also brought back Prince this year. And you could see Janet’s catalogue going there since it’s spread out everywhere. But remember– Virgin EMI was where Janet made her biggest deal in 1996. Virgin is now part of Capitol Records, which is Universal Music. That would be a natural fit for the LiveNation deal. We’ll see.

Granted much of this is conjecture, the Live Nation aspect of things would definitely be an intriguing development – should it come to fruition.
As one of music’s most iconic performers, re-affixing the focus on Janet as touring force would be smart.
What’s more, such deals tend to be flexible when it it comes to pairing up with a label. For, when an entity like Live Nation “licences” an album to a major label to distribute, it’s often on a project-by-project basis. Put simply, then, it means while Jackson’s new album could drop on Warner, the follow-up could easily be “licensed” to an entirely different label. On a surface level, it’s much less restrictive than a traditional album deal and allows the artist to explore different options with each LP.
In any case, we’re super excited to see how this all plays out.
Janet can do no wrong in my eyes; I just want the album to drop. And maybe she can do a feature with B-Rocka or Mimi.

This is more like Justin’s comeback. He was also gone for 7 years. It’s a big deal. With the right music, the right imagine and the right promo, I can see this being a huge success. Of course, everything will need to line up. Regardless, if the music is great, it will be a welcome return for anyone who loved her music in the past. Nah Jimmy & Terry made some absolute bops back in the day, they produced one of my faves from ‘the Velvet Rope’, called ‘What About’. March 31,1991 and separated on August of 1999, the Dr. Noticed his obsession and diagnosed Rene with self defeating personality disorder with Depressive and dependent personality traits. Which means he would go to any lengths to keep getting taking care of by a person with power & money this led me to believe he blackmailed Janet during their marriage to get what he wanted leading her to question whether their love was real or not kind of like pulling a dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde act on her he even probably going around blackmailing Jimmy & Terry and also going as far as destroying his friendship with Tina Landon as well by blackmailing her with her close relationship & friendship with Janet as well I still don’t believe he wrote anything.
