As reported earlier, pop queen Janet Jackson is set to be the 2015 BET Awards’ most anticipated attendee – with some reports suggesting the singer will be on hand to lend her first televised performance in years.

Congrats to her! I love Janet even though I didn’t grow up on her. The janet. era is my fav but The Velvet Rope album is where it’s at for me. BET better come correct with this tribute. Yes, they are actually the most entertaining award show right now but they have the tendency to be really cheap and unnecessarily shady. The MTV Icon tribute was an amazing example of how to pay respect to those legends who paved the way for younger artists. At her ceremony back in 2001, you had veterans (Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5), peers (J.Lo) and a ton of then-fresh, young artists (Britney, P!nk, Mya, DC, Usher, Nsync) all paying tribute and it was amazing! Whoever is in charge of this needs to get in contact with not only today’s hot dancers (Ciara, Tinashe etc) but also those who’ve worked with her closely over the years like choreographers, directors and producers. Some well-sung covers will be great too because Janet has some gems in her discography that I’d love to see some talented vocalists take on (Miguel, Tamia, Usher). Chile, they better just come correct.
