His ascent to the top of the charts with Blurred Lines and his fall from grace only a year later was such a mess. From the cheating scandal to having to shell out 8 million to pay off the Gaye family after it was ruled that the hit song was indeed a ripoff. Paula was so poorly received, lol. His vocals were the epitome of heartbreak on that album – all raspy and tired. Good luck to him on his next project.

Blurred Lines was basically a Frankenstein monster that turned on its creator. Robin’s life was better off when he was only modestly successful playing to a niche audience. He couldn’t handle big fame. It brought out the worst in him that had been tempered before, then chewed him up and spit him out. If I were him, I would shun trying to make another attempt at being a star and just be a musician, success or not.

I try not to think too much about the personal lives of artist because I think it taints perception of their music. Robin Thicke has always been a great artist with good music. I wasn’t a fan of Paula but this is a great song.
