With a career that’s seen its fair share of comparisons to Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, it seems only fitting pop megastar Beyonce join the highly anticipated revival of ‘The Wiz’…or at least that was the thinking of the good folks over at NBC.
Reports have begun flooding the net the 20 time Grammy winner – no stranger to musicals as evidenced by her critically acclaimed performance in the Academy Award-nominated film ‘Dreamgirls’ and critically shamed performance in ‘Carmen: A Hip Hopera’ – is joining the live remake of the 1978 classic alongside fellow music royals Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah.
Find out who she’ll be portraying below:
Glinda the Good Witch!
‘Beyoncé has reportedly been offered a role in NBC’s upcoming production of The Wiz as Glinda the Good Witch.
E! News first reported this, citing unnamed sources. Emmy-winning Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba is reportedly also being considered for the part.’
As seen in the video above, the role was brought to fame by the iconic Lena Horne. So, if Bey is to assume the role, she’s got some very big shoes to fill.
