It’s been fifteen years since singer/actress/poetess Jill Scott took her first promenade up charts with ‘A Long Walk,’ ‘Getting in the Way,’ and ‘He Loves Me’ all found aboard her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Who Is Jill Scott?’
Fast forward to 2015 and the songstress is still hot as ever – a feat verified by her newly released album ‘Woman’ (her first since 2011’s chart-topping ‘The Light of the Sun’). Kicked off by singles ‘You Don’t Know’ and the R&B hit ‘Fool’s Gold’ (currently #3 on R&B charts), the project – like her releases that have preceded it – is being lauded by critics as one of the year’s “must haves.”
But, even in the height and hype of the critical acclaim, the question remains: is the public listening?
Find out below as ‘Woman’s first week sales predictions are revealed:
First Week Sales: 43,000-48,000
(includes streaming figures)
If true, the reported sales will give Scott yet another top 10 debut once the Billboard 200 refreshes on August 1st. The numbers come as yet another high fly for R&B as crooner Tyrese, via his new album ‘Black Rose,’ moved a whopping 78k its first week giving him his first #1 on the albums’ chart nearly 20 years after his debut onto the music scene.
