Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

On this #FBF we press play on splash hit ‘Waterfalls,’ the now signature song for R&B trio TLC.  Giving the girls the second #1 hit of their careers, the tune – found aboard their top-selling ‘CrazySexyCool’ album – notched an impressive 7 week reign atop the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995.

This week (that year) would be its last roost on the perch of the Hot 100 for the songbirds of TLC as, just one week later, they would be kissed goodbye by crooner Seal‘s signature hit ‘Kiss From a Rose.’

Check below to see what other familiar faces you see in the top 20 this week in 1995:

Such a great time. Some of these TGJ trolls weren’t even born yet. I know I was (two years prior lol). I am still in LOVE with “Waterfalls” so ICONIC! And Mokenstef was slaying for that one song of theirs!!! I wish music was like this again. 🙁

  7. christinastherealtalent August 14, 2015

Ha how consumers’ taste in music has gone downhill. I miss the 90’s. The best pop music was that era.

  8. Ajm265 August 14, 2015

  10. Danny Bey August 14, 2015

That Top 10 is EVERYTHING!! Monica, TLC, Biggie, Vanessa Williams?!! So nostalgic. I was 6 years old and remember hearin all of these songs on the radio. *sigh*

    • lol August 15, 2015

I’m gen x and don’t find it nostalgic at all. It’s funny that it is to people who didn’t properly grow up with it.

      • Danny Bey August 16, 2015

What does “didn’t properly grow up with it” mean??

  11. @JanetCIARA_ August 15, 2015

    Wow this chart slays!

  12. AnnaliseKeatingsNewWig August 15, 2015

Waterfalls is a classic!! CrazySêxyCool is one of the best R&B albums of all time. They are the only R&B group to actually address all of the hush hush topics that the youth were going through (They sing about unprotected sêx and gun crime in ‘Waterfalls’, the sing about suicidal thoughts in ‘Sumthin Wicked This Way Comes’, untrustworthy friends in ‘Case of the Fake People’, and unfaithful relationships in ‘Creep’). Adults of the time wanted to discuss these things with young people but couldn’t get through to them, however TLC’s music really broke down these barriers.

    • Jonatello August 15, 2015

      PREACH!!!!

  13. MissImpartial August 15, 2015

Today’s charts are horrible. I get a headache just by looking at it.

  14. Kelendria August 15, 2015

That was the golden age for real R&B

  15. ~The Arcade~ August 15, 2015

Such a major difference compared to today’s fiasco. Look at how R&B especially, topped the charts *sigh*

  16. adelefan August 15, 2015

    Tlc & Monica ????

  17. JOHNVIDAL August 15, 2015

Another proof of how it all went downhill starting in 2000 or so. Love these posts.
And love the #2 on that chart by Seal 🙂

  18. eric August 16, 2015

I’m afraid there will never be another period like this where there was such a wide range of music with substance, integrity, and great sound. I saw TLC perform “Waterfalls” on the Main Event tour this year and it was everything I had been waiting for.

  19. You wanna jbeyok love it right bettor like you do then my funky money August 17, 2015

    Tlc is a great group

  20. Dee Okerson August 31, 2015

Redman in “MTV Cribs Retro Rewind. Unlike most of the sprawling mansions profiled on the show, Redman’s condo was fairly average sized, and almost completely devoid of the luxe trappings the show typically spotlighted.
