New Song: Rick Ross & Mariah Carey – ‘Can’t Say No’ [Full]

Published: Friday 4th Dec 2015 by Sam

Rick Ross has recruited Mariah Carey for what is the rapper’s most mainstream effort in years.

The pair, who previously teamed up for Mimi’s not-so ‘Triumphant’ single in 2012, this time serve up ‘Can’t Say No.’

Lifted from Rozay’s new album ‘Black Market’ (which hit retail today), the sing-along-song samples Carey’s classic ‘Can’t Let Go’ and sees her belt out the lyrics with her 2015 voice (which, admittedly, still packs a decent enough punch).

Listen to the diva and bawse on their latest duet below…

Though not earth-shattering, this is a well-crafted hit.

Boasting a strong melody, it captures the same simplicity and infectiousness that made rap-sung smashes such as ‘Dilemma’ and ‘My Boo’ as universally successful as they were.

After so many ill-fated attempts in recent years, ‘Can’t Say No’ reminds that Mariah can still succeed sonically with the “singer+rapper” movement she popularised in the 90s.

Finally a collaboration where these two got it right and also shoutout to MC for capitalizing on her amazing catalogue and bagging another writing credit along the way as well. Take about boss MC is definitely that.

That meme will go down in history. I swear! The one with Aretha putting her purse/bag down and adjusting the bottom of her shirt before she walks off is also legendary.

It’s interesting. Possibly a top 20 in its target demographic’s chart.

This is one of my all time favorite Mariah tracks but this song sucks, voice sounds horrible, just gonna stick with the old original; this song was f****** horrible.

IDK I have mixed feelings… I love the original and to hear this rendition is just a sad reminder of her vocal decline…IDK

Mariah sounds amazing on this track. She couldn’t do too much because it is a feature. The vocals sound very similar to the first version. Great song!.

    Nice track.
Rick Ross recycles lyrics a lot I’ve noticed but vibe is nice. Mariah sounds lovely but this song is the lesser to this classic below
