The list of performers at the 2016 Grammy Awards is growing, with Lady Gaga being the latest name confirmed.

Some may be scratching their heads, though, as it appeared Mother Monster has already been tied to the February 15th extravaganza.

Well, the confusion is cleared up after the jump…

Though an announcement touting a partnership with Intel plus performance at the show had gone out, it turns out a formal reveal had not yet been made.

Said confirmation came today via Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich, who has confirmed speculation that Gaga will perform a tribute to the late great David Bowie.

The New York Times reports:

The longtime producer of the Grammys, said in an interview with us that Lady Gaga had already been booked for the show before Mr. Bowie died. But as soon as the news emerged, Mr. Ehrlich said, he began discussing a possible tribute with the singer and her manager. Over the next week, Mr. Ehrlich added, he was contacted by numerous other artists who wanted to participate — “some of whom might have made sense; the vast majority didn’t,” he said — but he stuck to the idea of Lady Gaga solo.

Ehrlich added that the showing will last 6-7 minutes and will be comprised of “at least 3 or 4 songs.”

Gaga’s performance, it was promised, “is going to be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way.”

Cool.

But this immediately throw up questions of whether this “is” the Intel collaboration or whether that is something different. Perhaps new material?

The market does feel like it’s beginning to get crowded again, but we’d love to see the 29-year-old back and blazing with fresh material and performances sooner rather than later.
