On literature:
I would love for my younger fans to read What Will It Take To Make a Woman President? by Marianne Schnall. It’s a collection of interviews and essays by great women, including Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem, and Melissa Etheridge. They will inspire you to become a better leader.
On her proudest moment:
Out of everything I’ve accomplished, my proudest moment hands down was when I gave birth to my daughter Blue.
On arts:
I find myself most drawn to painting and photography. There’s a release and an immediacy there that helps me escape from my other projects…My mother is a huge art collector and she always encouraged me from a young age to invest in art. I travel a lot and I love going to art galleries and museums in different cities with my family and friends. I’m really into the work of Kara Walker, Tracey Emin, Aaron Young, and Donald Judd.
On being the captain of her career:
Over time, I have learned to focus on the things I want to focus on in the time frame that I set. I no longer have to work based on someone else’s expectations or pressure. I put enough pressure on myself! I love being 100% involved with all my projects and now I’m fortunate enough to do that.

I almost fell out my seat when I read literature in the title. LOL Because we all know Beyonce as basic as they can get. Everything she says is generic, repetitive, and rehearsed. After watching her Made in America Festival performance, I noticed a more visual, artistic approach to the set design far beyond just strobe lights. Therefore, I can believe that. Now, she talking about she’s a fan of literature; I’m going to need some receipts such as depth character insight, substantive finding, and theoretical analysis, before I believe any of that extra sh*t she said.
So what’s wrong with her being a fan of literature? You don’t need any receipt of what she does behind closed doors shut up.

Anyhow, I wouldn’t necessarily classify that book “To Make a Woman President” as that of ‘literature’ per say especially if we are basing it on what literature is in the classic sense. It’s moreso along the lines of philosophy/feminist philosophy or, in layman terms, a ‘self-help’ book from the female perspective. Also, since when where Gloria Steinhem and Melissa Etheridge literary figures?
