Over the last 15 years, the pair have expressed mutual respect for one another and even teamed up to perform ‘Purple Rain’ at the 2004 Grammy’s.

Their performance together at the 2004 Grammys is one for the history books. This was around the time when it wasn’t always cool for celebrities to be outward fans of Bey the way they are now. However, Prince openly expressed his admiration for musical knowledge and talent. I know it must have been daunting for her to share a stage with him but the way she held her own that stage legitimised her as standout solo performer in a sense. Thatd one heck of a lineup of artists singing up in heaven now. R.I.P Prince.
