The release of Beyonce’s visual album/film “Lemonade” put up solid numbers for HBO Saturday, drawing a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 787,000 viewers. It ranked in the Top 30 in the demo for the day.
Given the variables (see: cable channel, limited promotional window, and day of the week), the numbers are decent.
We’d be lying if we said weren’t wondering why Bey didn’t opt for a non-cable network so as to maximise reach. However, we imagine HBO cut the right check. Cha-ching!
Ultimately the premiere did its job in delivering respectable numbers, erupting discussion, and selling records. A win for all.

After a leak and over a million free copies I do think Rihanna could have had these sales due to the anticipation around Anti. After all of that I think nearly 200k is impressive in the current album buying world as sales have been decreasing for years. It’s very feasible. The albums were not released on the same playing grounds so it’s unfair to compare the two. I don’t think she would have outsold Bey but definitely would have had similar numbers and had her first blockbuster opening sales week.

HBO did have a free preview weekend this past weekend if on the run was deemed a flop with 888k viewership 787k means less viewers how is this not considered a flop because it’s Beyoncé face it world Beyoncé is not going to win every battle honestly her name should have guaranteed more viewership just because this entire project was highly anticipated.
Those number are great for a Saturday night. I recorded it so I am not sure as to how that is factored in and I’m sure plenty of others did the same. Really does not matter tho, the album is #1, FORMATION is #1 and at the end of the day Bey is slaying the top 10. This is how you put your FOOT on the competitions neck. If Formation keeps on it will go top 3 this week. This album is sooo good and Bey has made me so proud!
