  1. ???????Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??????? May 11, 2016

There’s nothing like a legend paying tribute to another legend, but please save it for a black performer. I’m just saying! I need Bey, Rih, and a few others to give that genius what he needs on that stage. Why not give him his own people to celebrate him?

    • LmfaoHoe May 11, 2016

Don’t worry BET will honor this man just like they did years back. I’ma need Maxwell, Miguel, D Angelo, The Roots, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Shelia, Pati, Mariah, Usher ect to come out and give Prince a REAL Tribute. BET awards performances >>>> any award show.

      • LmfaoHoe May 11, 2016

Also throw in Bruno Mars too, and please leave JT white basic ass @ home. We don’t need him apart of this tribute whatsoever.

    • OMG Logic!!! May 11, 2016

“His own people.” And that right there, is why racism is alive and well. Until Black people can stop alienating themselves like this, there will never be true unification.

      • DEE May 11, 2016

didn’t madonna tribute michael jackson at the vmas? let someone else. prince and michael did not even like her that much. also it’s nothing wrong with black people wanting to see another black person up there . How about Erykah or Beyonce?

    • StingRae May 11, 2016

….because the industry isn’t made up of “our” people.

  2. Danny Bey May 11, 2016

    ?????

WHY do they keep having her do these tributes to people that didn’t like her mean ass?! After that fake ass VMA speech she did for Michael, knowing damn well he hated her….. Lawd, Queen of FAKE.

    • LmfaoHoe May 11, 2016

Michael didn’t hate her but he sure wasn’t pleased with her and many other band wagon ass kisses either.

      • Danny Bey May 11, 2016

Hate was a strong word but he certainly didn’t like her. “Nasty witch” is what he called her I believe.

  3. toeknee May 11, 2016

Why they giving this drag b1tch though when there are other vocally talented singers who can/will do much better.
This attention seeking h o e needs to sit her flat hard old a$$ down.

    • Queen May 11, 2016

Prince and Madonna were friends recently.
Last year when she was on tour he attended her show and invited her back to his mansion and played a private show for Madonna and her dancers.

I don’t think he’d do all that if he disliked her

    • rosy3 May 11, 2016

Stfu Madonna is a great performer that’s why she the queen of touring have respect

  4. Queeb May 11, 2016

A legend paying tribute to another legend

I hope the Queen sings “Nothing Compares 2 U”

    • Sam May 11, 2016

      Sing!!!???? LMAO!
Maybe wear a prince inspired wardrobe but “singing” will be hard

  5. KenKen May 11, 2016

Madonna made her entire career off doing what she needed to remain in the spotlight/relevant. I see no difference here. She’s always been the least talented amongst her contemporaries. #truth

  6. Keri Qween May 11, 2016

    Booooooooo

I need Miguel and Bruno Mars

  7. Wendy May 11, 2016

  9. Black power May 11, 2016

Yuckkkkkk! Leave it to billboard to try and whitewash everything!!! I’ll wait for BET and hope that they get it right!

    • LmfaoHoe May 11, 2016

Thank you ! I love Madonna (90s era) but no thanks. I’ll wait for the BET Awards to honor a brother with justice.

    • OMG Logic!!! May 11, 2016

      Racist.

  10. LmfaoHoe May 11, 2016

Billboard is so soulless and the audience are mediocre at best. Theyre tribute to MJ and Whitney was nothing special either. BET will surely TURN UP n OUT with a great tribute celebration for Prince.

  11. #TeamTinashe Stan (#JOYRIDE……..) May 11, 2016

I see this as her pissing on his grave. This is not right at all especially when he showed disdain for her. It’s good that she is positive but out of respect for him she should of just left him.

  12. Molly May 11, 2016

Why her? She has no talent

    • Sam May 11, 2016

Exactly. I could see Pink or Christina A doing a much better job if they need to keep it colour safe.

      • JOHNVIDAL May 11, 2016

And Gaga. She did amazing with the Bowie one at the grammys. Best performance of the night next to kendrick´s.

  13. Yeee May 11, 2016

If anybody Maxwell would be a good choice to honor him

  14. Weezy Tha Goat/Zayn Is ? May 11, 2016

How much did she pay for this?? Nobody wants to see this old h**.

  15. Em May 11, 2016

Y’all know he hated people covering his songs right?? So basically he hated tributes. People like Mariah know that and that’s why she payed homage to him with her own song on a Paris concert.
The only good tribute Madonna can make is if she performs Love Song, since she wrote that with him… but knowing Madonna she’s going to want to go over the top and perform Purple Rain with a guitar.

    • Caleb May 11, 2016

Lmao that would be hilariously bad, and I’m a fan of hers.

  16. JOHNVIDAL May 11, 2016

WoW Madonna and Celine Dion at the Billboard Awards stage the same year! That´s rare. Usually these are just trash and forgettable awards.
I don´t know how well Madonna will do tributing prince really, cause her talent for performing and singing is nowhere near his musicality. But it´s great that an equaly big name is doing the tribute.

  17. What Now May 11, 2016

IDK about this Pop Quee , but whatever Madonna does, I’m here for it anyway.

    • What Now May 11, 2016

      Queen*

  18. Stoney-Brie May 11, 2016

To have all that soul and talent and then die and they give you a tribute by Madonna.. Chile I can’t even deal

  19. Royalkev May 11, 2016

I’m not taking anything away from Madonna when I say this, but she’s not even in a top 20 list of performers I’d find qualified to be a part of a tribute to Prince! It’s rather odd that she’s always thrown in the mix when we lose a mega-legend! Sure, they were all 80’s icons, but there’s not too many similarities that would group her and Prince in the same category (artistry wise).

I’m not so surprised this fell into her lap though, Madonna always finds a way to turn these kind of events into a “look-at- me, I’m-also-royalty” kind of thing! We all remember the MJ speech: “Micheal was born in 1958, so was I. Michael grew up in the Midwest, so did I. Michael has 8 brothers and sisters, so do I … The industry have always given Madonna privileges, so they force a fit with this one! I just wish someone else more apt was chosen honor Prince.

    • Royalkev May 11, 2016

*The industry have always given Madonna privileges, so they’ll force a fit with this one! I just wish someone else more apt was chosen to honor Prince.

    • JOHNVIDAL May 12, 2016

Lady Gaga for David Bowie was definitely a better fit.

      • Royalkev May 12, 2016

I have to agree! This is the biggest reach I can remember and it’s sad that it’s for a well rounded ARTIST like Prince (who’s talents include playing MANY instruments, being a creative SONGWRITER, as well as a gifted SINGER and PERFORMER).

  20. King Mark111 /.\ May 11, 2016

Tributes performances are lame and boring now. Just do a quick video or his career and move on. It’s just a chance for has beens to get on stage (J Hud, Gags, Fatina, Grandonna.)

  21. Coolness May 11, 2016

Prince notoriously disliked other artists covering his songs – especially male singers. I guess it stems from him giving so much of himself into the creation of his art that he feels other artists aren’t ‘worthy’ of conveying the emotions he did in his music. I don’t know what way Madge is going to be paying tribute to Prince but I don’t think I would like to hear her sing. No shade. A speech would be nice. I can’t imagine what it must be like for her seeing her 80s peers pass the way they’ve been in the last six years. Michael, Whitney and now Prince…

  22. inhood May 11, 2016

::sigh:: I guess because they were peers this is appropriate but it had BETTER be better what GaGa did for Bowie. Way, way, way, way, way, better. Don’t f*** this one up Madge.

  23. Meteorite May 11, 2016

As far as an actual show goes, I have not doubt that Madonna will do Prince justice. Madonna knows how to put on a show and anyone who has ever been to one of her shows or seen one knows this. Umm what will she perform…idk. I overall don’t have much thought on the matter, I have to see it to know how I feel, I guess.

  24. k May 11, 2016

nuff respect to the Legendary Madonna, doing this for another Legend that is the legendary price. and i dont give a f-ck that madge is white.

  25. Del May 12, 2016

Madonna is an INTERESTING choice to honor Prince. I know they recorded a song, Love Song, for her Like A Prayer CD back in 1989, but that song wasn’t even released as a single. She’s a big name, so I know she will draw an audience. I agree that the BET Awards should put on a great tribute for His Purple Badness. It’s been stated that Prince loved female performers performing his songs (remember the side eye Trey Songz received from him when he yodeled Purple Rain during his Lifetime Achievement performance). While Maxwell, D’Angelo, Miguel, Bilal, Lenny Kravitz, Usher, Stevie Wonder, etc. would put on a show, it was be great to see Beyoncé, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, India.Arie, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Esperanza Spaulding, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, an Apollonia 6 reunion, etc. pay homage to him. The only male performers needed are Morris Day & The Time. I can’t wait to see what BET does. I

    • Mathew May 21, 2016

The entire Revolution Band, Morris Day and Sheila E are already planning a major concert tribute to Prince.

      Catch up.
Madonna is the perfect choice. I grew up in the 1980’s… these two were at the top–and both respected each other immensely. The younger people of today really need to get an F-ing clue… they seem to have a thing for bashing people with years of experience and talent… First they trash Hillary, and now Madonna.

Sorry–but talent doesn’t come in the form of Donald Trump and Justin Bieber. Get a clue folks.

  26. zeroing ivy bloper tran anti girl lemond time May 12, 2016

    Wow

  27. Mathew May 21, 2016

There seems to be a lot of hate in the world. Prince was really against all that…so in my humble opinion, the haters on this thread trashing Madonna are also trashing Prince. He didn’t hate her, he had a lot of admiration for her. Secondly, they even were talking about doing a major world tour together.
I’ve also noticed that most of the hate are coming from people under 30. I grew up in the 1980’s. Madonna and Prince were always at the top. Picking Madonna for the tribute is the right thing to do. Rihanna? Come on. I know very little about her, but you people trashing Madonna need to know that as little as I know about this Rihanna, I’ve seen HER doing a cover of Madonna’s song VOGUE. So have a little respect children of 2016….

And recall that the children of the 1980’s admired both Prince and Madonna… and she is probably the perfect choice for this award show tribute. There will be full Prince tribute concerts–and many artists will have their moment, but for this show and venue, Madonna is the right choice.

I cannot believe all the hate on here… Where the hell were you people and all your hate when “Lady” Gaga did a David Bowie tribute and no one tapped Grace Jones or Iggy Pop?

Do you younger people even have a clue as to who Grace Jones and Iggy Pop are?

    Probably Not.
