L.A Reid is slowly but surely building quite the roster over at Epic Records.
For, it’s being announced that the mogul’s latest roster acquisition is Grammy and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
Full story below…
The ‘And I Am Telling You’ belter has inked an exclusive contract with the growing imprint, revealed Reid in a statement.
He said…
“Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation. Her award-winning presence on records, in film, and on stage establishes her as one of the premiere artists to emerge in this century. I’m enjoying collaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album and excited for her fans to hear what we’re up to… all will be revealed soon!”
Interestingly, the contract sees Hudson make a lateral move within the Sony Music family (where Epic is housed).
Following ‘Dreamgirls,’ she penned a deal with J Records (under the stewardship of Davis) and was later absorbed into RCA Records when the former was dissolved.
During her time with the previous regime, she released three albums. ‘Jennifer Hudson’ (2008), ‘I Remember Me’ (2011), and 2014’s ‘JHUD.’
In joining Epic, the singer joins a roster comprised of Fifth Harmony, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Meghan Trainor, and more.

We’ve long been in awe of J. Hud’s talent. However, we’ve also willed that she be gifted better material.
Hopefully, this new partnership brings those wishes to fruition.
