Fresh from giving birth, Kelly Clarkson is breathing new life into her career.
In a dramatic move, the American Idol alum has parted ways with longtime label RCA, departed the Sony imprint altogether, and moved over to Atlantic Records.

In an announcement to fans on Facebook, the ‘Because of You’ belter revealed that she has inked a deal with the Warner housed label.
While thanking her previous home, to where she was signed for 15 years, she referred to it as an “arranged marriage.” One which yielded ample success, yet challenging times too (see: Clive Davis clash in 2007 over ‘My December’).
She would go on to add that for the first time in her career, she’s now able to choose who she wanted to work with – crediting her new team for affording her the opportunity.
During the video reveal, the 3-time Grammy winner confirmed that an album is due in 2017 and that it would be inspired by “soul & R&B.”

Hands down a Talented lady. The voice indeed. I love her voice and she only dabbles in RnB/Soul. Like Christina Aguilera she needs to embrace the pain/soul in her voice and do that soul cd and sing her ass off

Okay wow. I’ve always knew Kelly was a pretty good singer/had talent, but never really been into her music, I don’t really like those “radio pop-rock anthems”, but I’m here for this!

That being said, she has always straddled R&B and Soul, and that was her wheelhouse on American Idol. But I did not like “Mr. Know It All.” I need a more soulful R&B version of songs like “The Trouble With Love Is.”

I can not think of why she would go to WMG or Atlantic, perhaps she likes what they have done for Bruno Mars. They just come off like a forgotten record label to me. I would have went to a UMG label, hell she could have went to Roc Nation or Live Nation would have been a great long term deal like what Madonna did. She really hates Clive Davis, despite him making her into a Grammy winner and star… Still to this day. She should realize ‘My December’ flopped so badly. He was right for her career tbh. She needs HITS!
My December only flopped because Clive refused to promote it. She had hits on that album that deserved to be heard.

She went to warner because warner specialises in black music. Warner has/had artists like TGt, tank, trey songz, ty dolla, t.i, ed sherean, Bruno Mars, Jess glynee, to name a few. I think when it comes to black music Warner’s really supports their artist! They will defo have her songs sounding special

Kelly doing R&B is a no for me! I don’t the urban audience will care however white people love when white artist do black/urban music & im sure she will sale better than Jazmine Sullivan, K Michelle, Ciara, Fantasia and all the other struggling R&B singers out there!

R&B and Soul music is NOT only here for our artist especially when most of them are abandoning it for pop/mainstream or trap music! It’s all about emotion and soul! Now if only Xtina would embrace this she would excel!
Yeah Christina been needing to since 2010’s ‘Bionic’ flopped on her ass. But again in 2012 she flopped with another Pop based album.
A lot of artists albums underperform due to radio not supporting them. It’s that simple.. Kelly is a superior singer! She is outstanding!!!! She has always had a little r&b influence in her music…. Just because some people have a touch of r&b to their voice it doesn’t mean that they are copying that genre. Some artists are simply versatile…. And she is. She is phenomenally talented..
