After taking trolls to task yesterday, Normani Kordei has reached her boiling point.
The Fifth Harmony star has been subject to an onslaught of vile comments from cyber-bullies following unfounded rumors of a rift with bandmate Camila Cabello.
Indeed, despite the latter actually vouching for her group member, the negative comments persisted. Many of which were of the racist persuasion.
In an open letter to fans, 20-year-old Normani announced that the severity of the situation has left her no choice but to take a break from Twitter.

Some may be quick to cite the “artists should have thick skin” line, but the fact folk can fix their fingers to type racist comments (and think it OK) is both sad and alarming. There’s no excuse or justification. At all.
The news comes after ‘Ghostbusters’ actress and comedienne Leslie Jones took a temporary hiatus from social media last month after also being racially insulted.

i stand by the words “love only”, meaning I won’t tolerate on my timeline any kind of hate, racism, or discrimination towards ANYONE. period
You don’t have to hate on somebody else to support me- I don’t appreciate it and it’s not what I’m about.. Be kind or move on.
I never go on rants like that but there’s so much cruel stuff going on in the world right now- let’s be part of the healing, not the problem.

This is a hot damn mess. The darker the skin, the more disproportionately hated you become. It sucks. But I love Normani (even though I think 5H is a corny group). I just think she’s gorgeous and the best performer. I hope things go better for her and she can just have a very successful solo career. Those hoez are holding her back.
It’s the internet. If all you can call me is a racial slur that is hundreds of years old, then you lost already. That’s only a surface attack. Everyone is different, but I think the best way is to not see it or at least not let them know you read it.
