Britney Spears is in a generous mood.
Next Friday brings with it the release of her ninth studio album ‘Glory’ and she’s just served up yet another taste.
This time it’s ‘Do You Wanna Come Over?,’ which follows lead single ‘Make Me’ and promotional cuts ‘Clumsy’ and ‘Private Show.’
Penned by Spears and Julia Michaels, the cut was produced by Mattman & Robin.
What are you waiting for? Take a listen below…
Darker in tone than ‘Glory’s previously released tracks, this lacks the single appeal of its predecessors. Yet, it is slickly produced and the vocals thankfully don’t sound chopped, screwed, and abused.
That really is the beginning and bookend of the “good.” Because sadly, just like ‘Clumsy’ and co, this drives on with no real sense of direction. It also doesn’t demand another listen; which is worrying in itself.
For Britney’s sake, the album needs to pack more of a punch.
With the VMAs and Carpool Karaoke on the way, it’s clear her team are lining up promotion aplenty. But what must always be understood is the fact that such slots should compliment good material rather than exist instead of it.
We want to root for Britney, however these songs are just not cutting it.
