Lady Gaga‘s newest single, ‘Perfect Illusion,’ has been troubled since its very unveiling.
After the song itself fielded attack for its repetitiveness, dramatic pronunciation, and 80’s inspiration (some even alleging the tune was a ripoff of Madonna‘s ‘Papa Don’t Preach’), repetitiveness, its accompanying music video was slammed for its simplicity and…erm…lack of activity.
Be that as it may, if the singer’s faithful fans – affectionately known as Little Monsters – were worried before they should probably avoid taking a look at this week’s refreshed Billboard Hot 100. For, after the tune made a troubling debut at #15 last week, this week saw it dive right out of the top 40! Ouch!

“Perfect Illusion” is a meh comeback of the decade, certainly nothing on par with “Poker Face” or “Bad Romance” or even, honestly, “Applause”.
That said, after watching “Perfect Illusion” free-fall out of the U.S. iTunes Top 50 starting the day after its release, a Top 20 debut. It’s a horrible song and let’s face it – Gaga’s career is pretty much never going to be what it was during 2008-2011 – she has 4 good years and that was it. She has a short cycle and peaked like Alanis Morrisette, Toni Braxton, Jlo, Christina and Britney. Sorry, Monsters.
In her 8th year of her career she is struggling to stay relevant. Or payola, fake soccer mom accounts, egss on Twitter…it didn’t work this time…try with much more money and do something about your sagging pancake t*ts.

Ah yes, the latest delusional explanation the monsters have to dismiss the fact their fave is now a has-been. It flopped because the song is really bad. When you listen to pop albums of 2016, DW, Glory, Anti etc, literally EVERY song on these albums are better than Perfect Illusion. Maybe they thought it would smash because it’s “different” but it didn’t. Perfect Illusion is lazy, mediocre and cheap.
And Beyoncé dropping stufff and even though her singles aren’t #1, she debuting single wise higher than a lot of the girls formation sold 147k, and was released 3 months after the video

I don’t compare Beyonce to these girls. Gaga, Adele, Rihanna, T. Swift, Ariana and Nicki are each other’: peers. They’re fresher and newer and are supposed to be slaying Beyoncé in every area. The fact that only 2 of the aforementioned are doing so is actually sad and slightly troubling.
Beyonce is a flop. Let’s all remember Beyonce needed Gagas help to become relevant again.

“Too Good” is ‘released’; it’s been ‘released’ for 8 weeks now. However, because Rihanna and Drake are masters of self sabotage, the song will not see the top 10 on the Hot 100 due to lack of any live performances or a video. The song had potential to be a #1 small but they’ve ruined it, in spite of it doing amazingly in Pop and Rhythmic radio.

I totally agree. No matter what she does, people are waiting to hate on her and make her fail at any cost. It´s truly sad that people take the time to do taht. Human nature is disgusting sometimes. Problem with Lady Gaga is that she is too much of a copy cat and she strayed away from the dance / music that made her popular in the first place. Songs like Just Dance and Poker Face are what made her successful so abandoning that style of music is stupid! No one cares for Gaga’s style of singing so putting her voice as the main selling point of any song will always be a fail. Her voice should be autotuned like her previous hits and mixed with a solid pop production for a hit.

I said it months ago before we had news abut a new album. It was very probable that she won´t ever see huge chart success (it can ahppen but it´s difficult) however she´ll have a career regardless, which is what she has been proving these last two years. She won´t go anywhere and Perfect Illusion, even though a single that masses don´t want, is pretty good and seems like a song that is going to fit perfectly in a whole body of work which will be the album. This rocky route and with Beck and Florence and just music with not much promo? I´m really ready to listen to the whole new sound. I´ll probably buy her album next month along with 3 more I saw on sale the other day 🙂 (Florence & the Machine, and a couple of epic compilations from Bruce Springsteen and Tina Turner I had never seen before with several dics in one by just 5 euros. Crazy! Albums just don´t sell and I can always buy them so cheap if I have a good look at the right store).
The thing that bothers me is the VISUAL to Perfect Illusion…I still like the song, I don’t care what anybody says lol…but when The Weeknd and Beyonce are finding so much success with moody and dark visuals, WHY is she abandoning HER LANE? I think they won´t care about the visuals like that this go round. She´s really changing things and I think she´s fully embracing her bigger roots as a musican. She´s collaborating with every talented pop-rock-indie star. I think she and her team knows people won´t let her shine commercially like that anymore. So they are focusing on having a quality career from now on without caring that much. I agree I enjoy the song so much. I think it will fit perfectly with the album as a whole body of work.
