Fresh from setting off her comeback campaign with ‘Prolly,’ Sevyn Streeter marches on with sensual new song ‘My Love For You.’

The cut is lifted from her long-awaited debut album ‘Girl Disrupted’ – the name of which was changed from ‘Girl Interrupted’ for legal reasons.

Sonically, the track finds Sevyn in familiar territory.

As such, an engaging bedroom rocker awaits after the jump. Take a listen…

A decent cut that gives a nostalgic nod to the qualitative R&B of the 90s. The vocal layering and harmonies are especially titillating.

However, we are still anticipating that “home-run” of a track that ignites the like we know she can.

Sevyn and Tinashe have boring music.

    • Kwinzy September 16, 2016

      It’s called baby makin’ music.

      • #Nicole Nation September 16, 2016

Yeah, baby makin’ music done wrong. R. Kelly is real baby makin’ music, not this one-dimensional trash.

      I don’t usually do this but… You’re mum!

  2. Kwinzy September 16, 2016

Very nice. This track got me wanting some bomb ass s** tho. ?

    • Ughhhh September 16, 2016

She only delivers “Chris Brown” material. Meaning music that all sounds the same each time (beat wise, lyric wise, concept wise) and never sticks nor resonates and becomes generic

  3. Kitty Puurrzz September 16, 2016

This is ok. Sevyn usually delivers. Her “Call me crazy but” EP was life… What’s going on Sev?

  4. Everyone’s A Critic September 16, 2016

Today has bee a good day so far. Emeli, Tinashe and now my girl Sevyn. I’ll give them all a spin and give my much anticipated criticism later. BRB

So this song BANGS. Slow jam, calm before the storm vibe if you catch my drift. Sevyn won today in terms of all round good song. Tinashe is 2nd with a song that is finalist in sound to her earlier stuff which won people over and that infectious beat. Emeli gave us grey and boring but when I’m in my feelings I know Hurt is gonna bang too.

      *familiar in sound

  6. Weezy Tha Goat/ Zayn is ? September 16, 2016

    She’s very underrated.

  7. Jackx September 16, 2016

My girls spoiling me, new Jojo, tinashe, and sevyn❤️❤️❤️

  8. Lake Erie September 16, 2016

I love it! TGIF!!! First Tinashe delivering, now Sevyn!? Today is a good day.. ☺

  9. Paulo September 16, 2016

been a while since I like one of her songs. this is cute. she’s talented can sing can write can dance… can’t put my finger on what’s wrong with her and why she ain’t popping

  10. chileplease September 16, 2016

I can use this. The first single is trash.

  11. nan September 16, 2016

This is the ONE I love it. Def Vocals and great arrangement not to mention the iconic nod to the LATE MS HOUSTON! Welcome back sevyn.

    • Chile Please!!! September 16, 2016

Thank you! I just don’t know what the hail (yes I said it or TGJ will edit it lol) is wrong with people’s ears nowadays?? WTF! This cut was s*** & vocals was on FYAH! Ugggghhh the new generation just don’t get it.

  12. #Nicole Nation September 16, 2016

Sorry, but it’s a no from me. Another trash song. Just generic and lifeless.

“Sevyn and Tinashe have boring music.”
    (2)

The only “new” r&b girls worth checking for are Teyana Taylor, K. Michelle (I know she’s not as new but still)
    and Kehlani.

Tin and Sevyn have similar weak af voices and boring music most of the time.

I will say, “Consistent” was a pretty good song. If only all her music were “consistent.”

Tinashe and Sevyn should just write songs because the singing thing isn’t for them.

    • rf September 16, 2016

why would they stick to writing songs, when theyre vocals are good. and its wayyyy less talented people out here being stars. anyway.

  13. Chile Please!!! September 16, 2016

This song is hot! See the problem is the new generation is not use to slow jams like this with cute vocals. Everything doesn’t have to be that drop it like it’s hot pick back up & do it again music. People so stuck on Beyawnce’s music & how she performs they think every chick has to be the same way. Expand your horizon on music folks listen to some nice slow cuts with meaningful lyrics sometimes. All that rachet R&B can drive you crazy sometimes….get’cha late night Quite Storm flow on peeps.

  14. Credits September 16, 2016

I love Sevyn but the music on her EP’s is turning out to be better than what will be on her album.

  15. Sam September 16, 2016

This just sounds like a K.Michelle left over track. Sevyn could be a good artist if she didn’t make her vocals and sound sound like everyone else.
It’s an okay song but has an expiry date

Yo, this passive and unofficial competition between Seyvn and Tin is low key exciting. Ha!

This song is good. Note, Seyvn has yet and I highly doubt will ever drop a bad song. She has a natural talent and ear that iwill make sure that’llnever happen. How-thee-ever… Because the music climate has changed her challenge will be to become more cutting edge. Although good in quality this song is reminiscent of the 90s. That’s good and bad. For the grown folks we can relate and appreciate. For the young folks they are finding it hard to relate. Seyvn needs to make sure she stays balanced and develop her artistry. By not being in her early 20s, she will not get the passes to find herself like her competition Tinashe and Ariana will. With Seyvn being in her 30s and if she has her eyes on living outside of one genre with a plan to be global, she needs to take aim ASAP. All and all, we are still watching because her music is never bad. If cards are delt right, this could be an awesome set up to a Big Bang! I want a urban R&B dance track next!

These times are reminding me of the fight for the top in the early 00s. Bey vs Mya vs Ciara vs Ashanti vs Amerie. S*** was awesome!

  17. cruz September 16, 2016

Big RnB fan, especially 90’s …but this is pretty generic, expect more from her.

  18. FC/JC September 16, 2016

Im a big fan of Sevyn, While this track is hot, she has been disappointing me with this new era roll out. I atleast respect that she is still trying by giving her fans new music, But she needs to DELIVER like I know she can. This kinda sounds like her older stuff…. I know shes better than this.

  19. Ann September 16, 2016

Sevyn isn’t as s*** as she thinks she is lol but I love a few of her songs…her and Tinashe both lack star power! In today’s music it’s like everything’s been done already so it’s hard to take them serious!

    Nice song
