Such practice is industry standard for showings like this, hence not doing so ironically makes her look the exact kind of “dated” she’s avoiding.
Team Britney need to understand that we are in a post American Idol / X Factor era; one where the consumer is much more aware than previous years. Even with that, most would simply appreciate an attempt to make the vocal (at the very least) “sound” live.
It makes it exceptionally difficult to root for a singer who refuses to make it even look like they’re doing anything of the sort.
What both baffles and irks the most is that this was broadcast from Las Vegas, meaning her team had full reign on everything from sound to cam angles.

Britney haven’t sung LIVE since Disney In Concert in 1998. We were kids back then and didn’t understand what was LIVE and what was lipped. I remember hating anything that was not 100% like the track, so if there was on extra run or note, I was passed.

I agree with you to some extent, but think about this, if a white man born and raised in Jamaica, identifies himself as African due to the island culture affinities to African culture, because that is the only culture he knows, the people he sees as his people, Reggae the music of his country etc, he will never be accepted as a real Jamaican by many Jamaican themselves, he would probably be accused of culture appropriation and many more, but why, the thing is simple, some cultures are defined by ethnicity and/or race, when you think about oriental things, whether it is food, arts or custom, you think about its people, their eyes, their hair etc, in the same way, European link their traditions and culture with a common look, which is being white, for example I’m Swedish, I accept foreigners who integrated into our culture as Swedish citizens but I will never see them as true Swedish, descendents of Norsemen, it’s just like this for the original Creoles, of course they should accept that a culture can expand, but there’s always the origin thing, at least that’s the way I see it.
