Time indeed flies.
Leona Lewis may feel like a relative newcomer to some, but it’s actually been 10 years since the soaring songbird won the third season of The X Factor UK.
The time since has brought blazing success with releases such as ‘Bleeding Love’ and 2007’s ‘Spirit’ album. There have also been challenging windows, including a departure from Simon Cowell and a comeback campaign that didn’t quite connect.
Still, as the narratives of the most seasoned careers highlight, every journey is filled with peaks and troughs.
Lewis celebrates all in touching new performance of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow.’
Dedicated to her legions of loyal fans, the song’s selection gives a nod to her X Factor audition song.
Watch her in action below…
Bravo!
Leona’s voice has changed, with the years shaving off a little of the power she once projected so effortlessly. That said, change need not always be a “bad thing.”
She remains, as this performance highlights, a phenomenal talent; one with a gorgeous vocal tone.
It’ll be awesome to see her craft material in this vein and continue to showcase the multi-dimensional nature of her gift.
Here’s to many more decades!
I hate to be the one to “correct” things, but I wouldn’t necessarily call her career “10 years of success”, especially when considering how the U.K. pretty much let her down with her latest era.
“Forgive Me” and “I Got You” are still cute pop bops, though.
Whose success is she celebrating?
the one you don´t have!!! thats success
Simply beautiful
Really… You can’t call that a success… She is indeed still working. But she isn’t as big as she once used to be. She can’t sing as good as she used to do.
She might be in the game for 10 years, but that ani’t no success….
Somewhere over her covering any song now !!
All things new now Leona.
I feel like the UK can abandon an artist in a speed of light. I mean, Jessie J, Lily Ellen, Rita, Avril, Susan Boyle, Duffy. Its like today they sold a million, tomorrow they barely sell 100 copies. Oh and Xtina! I feel like the next victim is P!nk and Katy. And in a few more years, TAYLOR. The most consistent seller among the females are Beyoncé and Rihanna. But she kinda flopped with Anti and Bey last three albums are in the same range.
Correction…10 years in the game – 1 year of success
She can sing no doubt, but that performance wasn’t really special. Brandy killed this song in her bathroom.
Nice performance
Nah Pink, Beyonce, Rih & Taylor are all gooood…. Rih’s material was just different & it was released unconventionally. Across the pond they enjoy her pop stuff very much. This project was just different for her, including the set up.
