Chart Check [Billboard Hot 100]: Britney Spears’ ‘Slumber Party’ Makes Disappointing Debut

While the likes of Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande all saw impressive sales and streaming boosts post their American Music Awards performances (November 20), pop princess Britney Spears – whose latest single ‘Slumber Party’ was released the same weekend of the telecast – unfortunately cannot boast the same.

In fact, the hoopla around the awards is exactly what many are blaming for the failure of Spears’ otherwise highly anticipated release (featuring Tinashe).  And, just as we reported here, ‘Slumber’s worrying response on digital charts didn’t exactly spell hopeful for the ‘Glory’ gem.

Now, with the officially refreshed charts available, we’re saddened to report we were right. Tuck in below to find out where it and all of your other favorites from the day landed on this week’s refreshed TGJ Chart Check:

You still gargling dcks over at West 23rd avenue sis?

    • \Truth(yaaasss honey) December 1, 2016

Nikki drop a surprise cd lastnight…IT FLOPPED!!!

  2. Mark111 /.\ December 1, 2016

It’s the best song on the album, but I don’t think her fan base like urban pop music. But this remix was a try hard, Tinashoe will jump on anything to try to get into the game. Her music just isn’t connecting with ears.

    • RihNavy December 1, 2016

      iDIED @ “TinasHOE”.

      • Mark111 /.\ December 1, 2016

I was going for TinaSHOE. lol

    • SMH December 1, 2016

Um, no. Her fanbase has grown up and moved on and gotten over her. The single would have flopped regardless, don’t throw shade at Tinashe, she’s not responsible for this mess.

  3. King December 1, 2016

No you won’t try and blame tinashe for that horrible song that wasn’t even going anywhere in the first place.
    Who’s surprised?

  4. #TeamTinashe Stan December 1, 2016

#TeamTinashe all said “nice gowns” and moved on from this Knee single. 😉

  5. Black power December 1, 2016

Who cares it’s just a debut.. they haven’t performed it live or really promoted it.

  6. Kiii December 1, 2016

I just saw this music video and it was good but it would’ve been better if it was just Britney. Tinashe’s feature was just kind of lackluster and didn’t really do anything for the song

    • cKillian December 1, 2016

Right on mark …it was just pointless.

    • King B December 1, 2016

It’s done, but I doubt people remember it.

” As of March 2014, it has sold 376,000 copies.”

Not like that flop is a strong catalogue seller either.

      • Mark111 December 1, 2016

The 748 video views says differently. This flop won’t match it’s sales, views nor chart success.

    • Shakira Stan December 1, 2016

Not to mention shakira and Rhianna are way hotter than Brit and tinashe.

  7. THE REAL December 1, 2016

Isn’t this the 2nd article in as many days basically reporting that Slumber Party/Glory/Britney is a huge flop? We get it, TGJ.
If the public has moved on, why can’t you do the same?

  8. FC/JC December 1, 2016

Its a flop! I cant with u girls being soft now days, as much shade as my fav gets, I hold nothing back… Girl ITS a FLOP! Tinashe better push back that album another 12months… And I read somewhere on Twitter that Knee is already working on her next album… Like girl, Her handlers aint cutting her a break. Keep that bytch busy.

Sorry didnt change my name on my phone browser.

      • Lea December 1, 2016

        Gul you a troll!

  9. David December 1, 2016

No try to be rude but why britney is still being called a pop princess you mean pop queen cause she owned her way to be called a pop queen

  10. King B December 1, 2016

I guess Beyoncé is the only one who can make it classy but made it to the top 3, TWICE. And top UK charts, TWICE.

    Beautiful Liar, Telephone.

    • Shakira Stan December 1, 2016

      You mean video phone?
The one that peaked at 65?

    • SMH December 1, 2016

And how many decades ago was that?

  11. Erica December 1, 2016

It’s just so funny how y’all follow Britney singles this hard Beyoncé & Rihanna second singles didn’t debut too high on the charts either they gradually went up but y’all didn’t post on them it’s like y’all get a kick that Britney not slaying, but y’all not posting on Alicia or solange or any of the other girls like that

    • RhiRocks December 1, 2016

You can shade Rihanna when it comes to singles cos she’s a singles artist her singles should reach top ten or she’s flopping. Beyoncé don’t care about singles she happy with them flopping cos she’s more than bb 100 she cares about impact a song that was released in February via tidal had the highest debut this year after 3months when album released . Formation is the biggest song of the year and didn’t even go no1. Beyoncé sells albums , she sold 1.5 without using Christmas sales like everyone needs including Taylor and Adele

      • Erica December 1, 2016

But I wasn’t shading them can you read? I was just stated a fact a song is not a flop cause of what it debut on the charts it flops when it doesn’t go any higher

      • SMH December 1, 2016

Lmao stop it. Formation was not the biggest song of the year, not even one of the top 20 biggest songs of the year; it flopped just like all the singles she released this year. and Adele and Taylor sold million more than she did, and it wasn’t Christmas sales either, so stop making beyonce out to me more than what she is, nobody buys that except her clearly delusional fanbase.

  12. True Lamb December 1, 2016

All award shows have gone to hell thats why the ratings will continue on a downward sloop hopefully till they all go off television same performers same winners same nominees BORING!!!!

  13. kelvin December 1, 2016

I knew you wouldn’t post about rihanna’s love on the brain moving 16 spots from #50-#34 this week. After moving another 15 spots last week. And expected to jump another 10 next week.
But if it was flopping, it’d be all over here

    • Erica December 1, 2016

Exactly that’s what they do unless it’s Beyoncé they post all her s*** but only positive

    • SMH December 1, 2016

Yep, and there was no post about Sorry and Hold Up freefalling down the charts. And what about Daddy Lessons? lol.

  14. JOHNVIDAL December 1, 2016

What an obsession with charts damn it! Especially now that they mean less than ever. Sales are so poor and streaming is a factor lol Charts are way more irrelevant than ever.

Did you guys expect this song to be a big hit or anything to begin with? Then why do this type of posts to make everybody bring someone down?

    • Mark111 December 1, 2016

They only mean less to you because your faves can’t last more than a week on it. It’s never been easier to chart and these flops can’t. Streaming and video views are from the people, the old skool label payi5for radio spins is dead and so are these fake pop stars. ?

      • JOHNVIDAL December 2, 2016

My faves are like the best sellers ever in music so keep it. Just keep your bullpshit.

  15. gina December 1, 2016

Now let’s see if beyonce gets the same type of post after all nite’s full week of streaming on VeVo, cuz we all know its not gonna chart high on the hot 100.

  16. ? December 1, 2016

All of the cosigns, collaborations and deals. Tinflopshade still won’t happen. Her three fans can keep dreaming.

  17. Cinnamon Girl December 1, 2016

And Tinashe’s stans have some nerve to come for Ciara. At least Ciara had the only platinum selling R&B single in 2015. Tinashe dropped a surprise album, was on a Britney song and is still flopped

  19. Emma December 2, 2016

Deserves so much more! I haven’t heard it on my local radio and haven’t seen any televised performances for it like Ariana, The Weeknd and Bruno’s songs. I’m guessing her label aren’t supporting it. Strange though, she’s one of the biggest stars in the world you’d expect they’d give her the biggest promo budget.
