Mariah Carey Announces ‘All Of The Hits Tour’ With Lionel Richie

Mariah Carey spent much of her heyday avoiding the rigor of the road.

Yet, recent times have seen Mimi embrace touring; especially in today’s age where it’s the primary means of making money now that record sales are in a rut.

Building on her Las Vegas stint and recent ‘Sweet Sweet Fantasy’ concert series, Carey has teamed up with Lionel Richie for the 2017 ‘All Of The Hits Tour.’

Full story below…

Set to kick off in Baltimore on March 15th, the arena trek will wrap on May 27th in Fort Lauderdale.

Interestingly, the 46-year-old diva is listed as a “special guest” (aka. opener).

The duo will play 35-dates across North America.

Full dates are available at Live Nation.

*************

Go Mariah.

She’s clearly here to collect all of the coins and we’re not mad at her.

She’s arguably at the “heritage act” stage of her career, so why not capitalize on it?

That said, we’ll always have an ear ready for new material. Here’s hoping something is served up next year at some point too.

Smart. Not sure if she could sell a 35 arena date tour solo

    • LISA LEVINE December 12, 2016

Listen Girl. Mariah Carey has song triple the number of records Lionel Richie has. Mariah Carey also has more Number 1’s. Not sure “WHY” she’s opening for him, should be other way around, but OK. She’s collecting them coins. Maybe she’ll sing FADED and give us life……but clearly not.

      • Cory December 12, 2016

… But Lionel Richie didn’t have to sell his singles for 49 cents to get them to #1. A huge difference! Let’s see how many #1’s Mariah would have it she didn’t put “Honey,” “Thank God I Found You,” “My All” and many others on sale for 49 cents. Whitney, Michael, Prince, Celine, Janet would never.

      • oopsUPsideDaHead December 12, 2016

More #1s, but not more hits. CHECK YOUR CART

    • #BeyHiveAttack December 13, 2016

      SHEs the OPENING act
      How EMBARRASSING !

  2. Dee December 12, 2016

I actually might check this out. This might actually be a good throwback tour. I saw Lionel Richie years ago when he was the opening act for a Tina Turner concert. I actually enjoyed his set. Never have been really interested to see Mariah live but I do enjoy her earlier music. Hope it comes to my city.

    • LISA LEVINE December 12, 2016

honey shes gonna sing those hits

  3. JT December 12, 2016

Yeah, I’m not paying for this because I’m not sure I can sit through a Lionel Richie show. I’d imagine Mariah is trying to expand her audience to an older one, but this is an odd pairing. Plus I’m shocked she’s opening for HIM. He’s a legend but one of those legends who doesn’t do much and is mostly remembered as an ’80s act. It should at least be a double bill, 50/50 concert. She must be getting a good paycheck to do the minimum.

    • oopsUPsideDaHead December 12, 2016

You must be young.. Lionel is 70s, 80s and 90s and had a #1 album in 2012
Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner

He was a ICON and LEGEND before she sang Treated me kind…

  4. Indie December 12, 2016

Get them coins Mimi, once you get the “grown with money” crowd there no going back, being a guest on a Lional Richie tour is that grown with money audience they will be seeing your shows in there 80s! Mariah already has half that audience anyway but this is a great move! I love her and i’d go to this

  5. NeNe December 12, 2016

Lionel Richie? A lot of her fan base consists of millenials, judging by the crowd at her shows. Why doesn’t she tour America on her OWN outside of Vegas (for the fans who don’t want to go or can’t afford Vegas)???

    • Supreme Diva December 12, 2016

Much like the name you stan for, you are pathetically illiterate. This is Lionel’s tour with Mariah as the special. For both legends, this is smart and strategic as Mariah needs to build herself as a legacy act than a legend competing with today’s it girls.

      • Solange December 12, 2016

I upvoted you for the Nene read. Loved it.

      • NeNe December 12, 2016

Honey. Nothing you said has anything to do with my comment. I was asking why doesn’t she tour America on her OWN outside of Vegas! Cute attempt at reading though, imbecile.

      • Supreme Diva December 12, 2016

Hey Solange! A Seat At The Table and True are still giving me life. Come thru, sis!

    • Chileplease December 12, 2016

Millennials aren’t buying her records tho…she’d be broke depending on young people.

      • NeNe December 12, 2016

The older audience isn’t buying it either. Mariah is still very current!! I’m actually a Mariah fan. There was no shade involved. I would love to see her live, but I hate Vegas and I’m not traveling to other countries to see her.

    • pon_De December 12, 2016

Because her contract with Caesar’s Palace probably has a clause that she cannot headline a tour in North America, i.e. no competition bringing the coins to Vegas. Being billed as a “special guest” on someone else’s headline tour is a way to get around that.

  6. King B December 12, 2016

Wow!Seems like she’s so active this year. I felt like I keep hearing she announcing shows! Congrats!

  7. M December 12, 2016

This is a very smart and strategic move for Mimi. Not only is all this touring doing wonders for her reconnecting with her fanbase (and obviously super lucrative) but it’s pretty clear that they’ll be using this tour as a means to keep “Mariah’s World” going for another season. They’ll def be chronicling this one for E! And I wouldn’t worry too much about the wording of “special guest”…..Mimi ain’t about to be “opening” for no one. Based on Ticketmaster and their respective Facebook pages, the show is clocking in at 3 hours long (7:00-10:00) for each venue so it’s pretty clear they’re both gonna be getting ample stage time.

    • Eric December 12, 2016

Hopefully it’s not like the maxwell and Mary show where maxwell came over at mary. A lot of people left.

      • oopsUPsideDaHead December 12, 2016

Maxwell is not a legend like Oscar/GoldenGLOBE/GRAMMY WINNER LIONEL RICHIE JR.

  8. TrinaQueenOfTheSouth December 12, 2016

I’m taking my mama do this…I wanna see Mimi and she been talking about seeing Lionel Richie

  9. FAF December 12, 2016

glad she’s moving on to adult ventures
Hopefully no leotards for this one

  10. Jan December 12, 2016

U still hang with blacks after nick canon ? Gurl..u know what ppl say. Once u go black..u lost ur jewelry

    • Just stop December 12, 2016

You do know mariah carey is black right?

  11. Lauryn December 12, 2016

I’ve seen them both live and this is gonna be epic!!! Lionel is one of the best performers out there. You will not be bored. Mariah has been singing with her golden voice again. Saw her earlier this year and she sounded great and had a nice show. If they would bring this show overseas, I wouldn’t think twice about going. Worth every coin!

  12. IG @ MIXEDBOY December 12, 2016

Slayyyyyyy Mariah. As a fan I love that she’s expanding her demographic and positioning herself as a top “legacy” act. Mariah is on fire!

  13. JOHNVIDAL December 12, 2016

    Now this is truly surprising.
This woman has done more shows in these last two years than in the rest of her career. Kudos.

  14. Jasmine December 12, 2016

I think this is a good but weird move for her. It will pay off in the long run when she gets more older fans that likely wrote her off years ago or never got her appeal as an artist. She is a headliner and so is Lionel.
Should be a 50/50 bill but that promo pic makes it appear like Mariah is the opener (who knows if that is really the case until they perform a few shows). Sidenote, if
Mariah and Lionel are touring together why don’t they record an album together too? Toni Braxton did that Babyface and their album sold well and got them another grammy.

  15. Haters Gon’ Hate December 12, 2016

Mariah Carey STAYS BOOKED! Wow, this girl got her business in order. Good for her.

  16. Max December 12, 2016

Stella ain’t playing games! Wonder what her set list will look like I feel like she needs to ditch the dancers and focus more on the music

  17. Teflon Boy December 12, 2016

Mariah and Stella are being very smart here.., especially as Mariah means many things to many people. Each subsequent tour/residency allows her to capitalise on the variety within her discography.

    1. Vegas is for the middle of the road audience who love her classic balladry.

    2. Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour is for her contemporary millennial audience who enjoy the ballads, the Hiphop, the dance remixes and the RnB jams.

    3. While the Lionel Richie ‘special guest’ slot is to appeal to her much older legacy audience, hopefully by capitalising on the jazz piano torch balladry that she’s starting to excel at i.e. Thank God I Found You freestyle.

  18. oopsUPsideDaHead December 12, 2016

Already bought my ticket… and the show is almost sold out PRE-SALE

  19. Shaquiiii December 12, 2016
