Rihanna‘s undying efforts to support the sovereign island of Barbados haven’t gone unnoticed by its people.
So, to honour the achievements she’s garnered since leaving the island as a teenager, she was invited to welcome Prince Harry of the British royal family to her homeland to celebrate its 50th year of independence away from British rule.
Once there, the pair made their way to the Kensington Oval cricket ground to enjoy the Golden Anniversary Spectacular Mega Concert.

Barbados was inhabited by the Kalinago people in the 13th century, and was later used to “house” enslaved and tortured Africans who were used by the Britain to build its wealth via chattel slavery.
In 1834, the British empire abolished slavery (after generating millions from the horrendous practice) and watched the land become an independent one in 1966.
