Extended Snippet: Mariah Carey Ft. YG – ‘I Don’t’ [New Song]

Published: Sunday 29th Jan 2017 by Rashad

As we reported here, Mariah Carey‘s 2017 may not have started on the best note, but now the multi-octave diva is looking to turn things to a positive note.

Tapping rapper YG to assist, the pop icon is moving ahead with ‘I Don’t’ – a very personal breakup anthem reportedly set to address the failure of her relationship with billionaire beau James Packer.

Already giving fans a taste of what she’s serving up, tonight’s episode of ‘Mariah’s World’ gave fans an extended listen at what they should expect this Friday (February 3) when the song is unveiled in full.

Wow, I’m surprised. Its a bop. Hopefully, she’s not Laying on a sofa with her head thrown back AGAIN n the video. The Charmbraclet vocals are a bit dated in the beginning but once she does her Usher bop its on. Cute mimi.

  2. Pat January 29, 2017

    Thats cute so far

  3. Micelle January 29, 2017

Sounds like a little infinity and a little faded

  4. oopsUPsideDaHead January 29, 2017

So she’s sampling “Where I Wanna Be” by Donell Jones.
Sounds promising but “I Don’t” know if this will be #19

  5. Stevone l Jackson January 29, 2017

Wow ok I miss judge it at first sound like this will be good

  6. Danzou January 29, 2017

Let’s see how the rest of the album goes. This is cool though. I just don’t see why YG had to be on it.

  7. King January 29, 2017

Well I’ll have to wait and see. She always looks like she lip syncing for some reason.
I like Mimi tho gone girl. The woman are coming this year child.

    • Teflon Boy January 30, 2017

Lol well I’m sure she was lip syncing to her own vocals in the clip.., it takes a while to lay down stacks of vocals.

  8. Weezy Tha Goat January 29, 2017

    Okay I’m here for it.

  9. Roab January 29, 2017

Pure fire ? and she knows her lane! Well done Mariah..

  10. Mark111 /.\ January 29, 2017

Sampling 90’s R&B seems to be the trend now, it may work since the sample is already familiar and favored.

  11. Kayla C January 29, 2017

Yes! Give us that classic r&b sound! I’m ready for it

  12. Tru Voice January 29, 2017

She is following a popular formula and her voice is good enough for the studio. With YG, it may be a hit in urban. Hope it works out for her and translates to album sales.

  13. T-K- January 29, 2017

Yes yes and another yes… I’m here for it but she better bring it on this one ?

  14. Carlitos January 29, 2017

Ughhhh why can’t she just make good music again?! No one understands this crap, which is why it’s not relatable and doesn’t sell. She is desperately needing a new team STAT!

    • Ray January 30, 2017

Oh, shut up Carlos! Go sit in room and play your Selena Gomez records!

      • Carlitos January 30, 2017

Says the sheep who won’t buy her music but will only stream for free. Pathetic.

  15. True Lamb January 30, 2017

I’m ready to buy it Friday!!

  16. The Wig Snatcher January 30, 2017

I’m one Lamb who is not feeling this. The Donell Jones sample should be played down some, especially since she sings over it. Lyrically, she’s trying too hard to sound like this lesser-talented new school “singers” like Jhene Aiko and comes across as contrite.

    • Teflon Boy January 30, 2017

I think you mean contrived, contrite means apologetic

  17. Meme January 30, 2017

A legend sampling a much less successful peer seems off. It does sounds good tho

  18. FAF January 30, 2017

It always sounds like it took 300 takes this is why she struggles live bc it’s so highly edited and nearly impossible to replicate

If u listen to her older music ie: underneath the stars, it sounds like she sang it all the way through

Her new songs always sound like she said “punch me in here. How’s that? No let me do it over”

That’s why you can visibly tell she’s lipsynching

    • Teflon Boy January 30, 2017

I know what you mean.., the thing is that in good voice she can sing all the way through. I think it’s her own perfectionism mixed in with restrictive recording deadlines that has her doing the most to get a solid take when she’s not in the ideal vocal state. It sounds like her vocal chords were dry and thin on the day of recording tbh. But apparently it was recorded over a wknd so it stands to reason that she had to just do the best she could with what she had at the time.

      • JOHNVIDAL January 30, 2017

I agree her schedule is crazy. At her age and position, she should take a break from the public eye for some months, keep on taking care of her voice (which I truly think is what she has been doing these last two years in general (last Xmas aside I guess 🙂 ) ) and record new music for an upcoming new album. If that´s what she ahs in mind that is. Maybe she´s not going to release a new album in a long time though. In that case she can keep having this crazy schedule of shows and concerts the whole year.

  19. Erica January 30, 2017

I’m here for it but why lip sync in the studio tacky asf

  20. Rihboy January 30, 2017

    I like it

  21. M January 30, 2017

Anyone saying she’s “lip syncing” in the studio is just dumb. Clearly they recorded the song and then had her go back in and film it in one take so that they could use it for the show. And anyone who’s watched even a single episode of the show can see her singing live on stage in virtually every episode. So please hush…..

    • dee January 30, 2017

I understand that you are fan of Mariah but just admit that she is lip syncing in clip. We all know that her voice has diminish over the years but it doesn’t negate that she is a legend in the game.

      • JOHNVIDAL January 30, 2017

These lipped clips in the studio have always been done by many artists, including Mariah when she was still young. Now this is a thing to critizise too? Come on!

  22. Stephy January 30, 2017

    I’ll stick to 1990 – 2010 Mariah Carey.

    • MusicLife January 30, 2017

I almost say 1990-2000, 2005. And call it a day.

      • Stephy January 30, 2017

        No I love Charm-bracelet, Glitter, E=MC2 & Memoirs.

      • JOHNVIDAL January 30, 2017

I´m surprised that you like E=MC2 and Charmbracelet to be honest. It´s not that different from the things you dislike from her nowadays.

  23. Now time yca ritish wauyzbi January 30, 2017

    Rather heard the full song

  24. Indie January 30, 2017

Mariah doing what she does best, Killin em! This is brilliant! With the right push she could get the 19th No.1

  25. Stephy January 30, 2017

  26. cocobutta January 30, 2017

    Love IT.
    Release it Mimi x

  27. Lake Erie January 30, 2017

    Come through MC!!

  28. JOHNVIDAL January 30, 2017

It´s not bad but I understand the fans or the people here that also say they are here for Mariah if it is better than this. Like I´ve said many times before, if she is happy releasing what she loves and this is it then fine, cause she has earned it and has nothing to prove. However, if she plans to release an album in teh future and make it somehow successful, she needs to bring something new. In fact, most songs that could possibly bring her a hit, would be easier for her to sing. I always give the example of songs like “Royals”. Would be so easy for her to sing a song like that. And it would be a shocking change, but in the right direction whgen it comes to maisntream. The proof is #Beautiful, her most successful song in the 10s, and the one that felt more different.

  29. BangBang January 30, 2017

I love the song but…still don’t know what she do broken up about. He wasn’t even cute and they never had s**! She lost nothing.

    • Mariah Carey January 30, 2017

Have you seen his yacht dahhling?

  30. BangBang January 30, 2017

I love the song but…still don’t know what she so broken up about. He wasn’t even cute and they never had s**! She lost nothing.

  31. Slick January 30, 2017

  32. Ethan January 31, 2017

The beat is nice, the vocals are to layered which is the problem. When it time to sing the song live she has to lip it…Just go in the studio and give raw vocals in a register you can hit live and we wont have a problem like we did on December 31

  33. Kmilan23 January 31, 2017

I give it to Mariah she never disappoints with her body of work it’s just her live, she’s loosing it

  34. SoFresh January 31, 2017

I came in almost prepared to be unimpressed and try hard but I was oh so wrong.

Even the song instrumental at the end sounded promising too. Crossover sound
