Just as folk had begun to move on from Mariah Carey‘s disaster of a New Year’s Eve performance, the diva is shining light on it…herself.

Perhaps there was some truth to Tommy Mottolla‘s suggestion that Mariah take on a more professional team.
Because, while there was nothing wrong with her words here, the timing is off. She’s ultimately bringing the whole debacle back to the centre when it had all but managed to slip out of the news cycle.
She’d have been well-advised to service this statement as soon as it happened instead of letting her manager (who we somewhat…like) do interviews on her behalf. Interviews that, though right in intent, may have made the situation worse.
In any case, it’s encouraging to hear that Mariah is planning a media hiatus. Hopefully, the downtime is used to rest her (real) voice and to cook-up a comeback plan. We’re beginning to bore of the theatrics and non-musical ventures. Drop a slay album and auto-remind the masses why they fell in love with you.
