Is Mariah Carey on the cusp of a comeback?
According to a new report, plans may very well be in place – with execution taking place sooner than expected.
Details below…
Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 touts a source close to the situation who says that LA Reid and Epic Records are ready to roll.
Per the report:
“They’ve got it [the single], and feel that she needs something on the radio to remind people [she] can really sing– not just lip sync.”
The latter part of course refers to the diva’s New Years Eve debacle at the Dick Clark special, which saw her embroiled in a lip-sync scandal.
Little has been divulged about who the songbird has been nesting with in the studio, but reliable word is that she has clocked up time with the likes of Diane Warren and Jermaine Dupri.
********
Proving she’s up to the challenge of pushing new material live, we sure hope this proves true.
It’s been almost two years since Mimi re-signed with Sony by way of Epic and there’s been very little musically that has come from that union. Let’s forget that ‘Infinity’ atrocity.
Granted it’s clear manager Stella and her team have used recent times to rebuild Mariah’s live stock and snatch some TV moolah in the process, music is her mainstay.
Sure, there’s a part of us that would rather the 46-year-old vacate the spotlight so as to recalibrate, but the reality is that we don’t live in an era that allows that. Put simply, for most acts, it’s a case of “out of sight, out of mind.”
Hopefully whenever Mariah re-emerges, it’s with slay material, a less tacky image, and no fake relationships to stunt with.
Back to basics. Please and thanks.
