Sounds like everything she does for fun. Not too serious. I doubt this is like a real single or anything. More like that song for Empire she did not long ago.
If she were to really start the campaign for a new album, I´m among the ones that think she would need to change direction and sound to make it successful commercially wise. Of course she has done it all so if this music is what makes her happy then so be it. She has paid her dues. For for it to work on a big scale, she needs a new sound. #Beautiful was the proof. Not to mention most sounds people like nowadays are way way easier to sing for her. It would be a win for everybody.
It’ll only be easy for her if she opts to pitch her vocals in a more comfortable place.., I don’t know why she insists on pitching up in the rafters. The amount of times she has slaaaaayed Thank God I Found You shows me that Mariah still has a great deal to offer. Her thick mid-range register gets neglected big time in favour of airy Triumphant-style shrieks. No wonder the masses think her voice is shot:/
