Christina Aguilera Announces She’s Put the ‘Finishing Touches’ On New Album?

Published: Thursday 9th Feb 2017 by Rashad

It seems the completion of a Christina Aguilera album is nearing for the 1000th time.

Just this time last year (and probably the year before that), Aguilera took to press to suggest she was closing the recording process on the follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed ‘Lotus.’  Yet, barring a few themed singles here or there, no such release has sprouted.

Despite the previous false alarms, fans of the diva are still clinging to hope – a feat evidenced by the excitement shared over a cryptic text lifted to her official Twitter page recently:

Though the photo and its caption don’t exactly apprise of anything soon forthcoming, what is factual is Xtina has been working on the album since 2014. Last year, the 36-year-old took to press to indicate she began refocusing on the album during the second half of 2015 by taking meetings with producers and collaborators. Among the reported contributors to her new set are Pharrell,  ‘Beautiful‘ writer Linda Perry,  Da Internz, and many more.

While we impatiently await official word, we’ll just throw this “it’s coming soon” teaser in the pile with all the rest of ’em from the past few years.

    Keep it scream queen!

    • MusicFan103 February 9, 2017

LOL maybe she has learned by now after the success of “Say Something”

    • LISA LEVINE February 9, 2017

She has not embraced her RnB vocals since Stripped, maybe a few songs on Basics (FUSS and a few others), She continues to make drag queen music and it does not sell. Your blueprint is stripped, thats what sells, solid well-written Rnb/Pop music with great vocals and with a story to sell. How many flop Singles and CD’s does she have to do before they DROP HER.

      • FAF February 9, 2017

Well your body was successful so that dr luke sound is what she keeps chasing

  2. MusicFan103 February 9, 2017

I will believe it when I see/hear it.

She needs to tour this time around its been way to long for her to not have toured and she is only getting older. Why would you want to wait so long if music is what you love?

I hope this new album is Urban Pop or Contemporary R&B. But we will have to see. Promotion will make or break it like her last two albums: ‘Bionic’ and ‘Lotus.’

B***** your rat looking fave is over as well flopnika isnt talked about at all these days is the flop print still stalled at 680k????

  5. Fifi February 9, 2017

She hasn’t released because she’s scared of another flop. I love her, but she used to be distinct because of her voice but then there was Kelly clarkson, fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana grande. The “voice of her generation” thing isn’t working for her anymore, especially because it’s deteriorated.

Secondly, from an artistic standpoint she cannot compete with Rihanna and certainly not Beyoncé. I hope she’ gets it right, because sooner rather than later she is going to be known as “a lady that used to judge voice” and not much else.

  6. Stephy February 9, 2017

It’ll flop but I’m interested… Not a big fan of her screaming, grunting, hollering, straining, over riffing/running or her randomly forgettable music but I’m still gon’ check on ha!

  11. MUSICHEAD February 9, 2017

I gotta be honest, LeAnn Rimes’s new album Remnants is stellar! It is the album I’ve been wanting from Christina Aguilera. If Christina can’t deliver an adult album with great writing and great vocal production, I won’t be interested.

    • Bug A Boo February 9, 2017

  12. Truthtea February 9, 2017

Idk why some of y’all still saying her voice has deteriorated. Clearly, y’all are shook! And there is no comparison between hers and Ariana’s voice. Nice try haters!

    • Cough Cough February 9, 2017

Her voice is deteriorated though. Strained, often flat and struggling throughout majority of her performances.

      • Teflon Boy February 10, 2017

The real truth re: her voice is that she values grit over perfection, which in her head equates to feeling and soulfulness. I know this because I watched her ‘Singing Master Class’ to my dismay.., I rate Xtina and love what she is capable of but she sounds strained because she doesn’t have a solid voice care regime. A singing style like hers requires daily maintenance and breathing exercises, not merely a few trills and raspberries before attempting a huge song.

    • Jason February 10, 2017

YAS delusional!! Anyone with ears knows her voice isn’t what it used to be!

      • Haters Gon’ Hate February 10, 2017

^^ Thank you! Love this girl but her voice has changed and is not consistent – the sad thing is she hasn’t adjust her delivery to compensate and it’s just all over the place. Nothing wrong with your voice changing but if you don’t make key and dynamics adjustment it just sounds strained.

  13. Meteorite February 9, 2017

She’s not working with Max Martin this album.
She is however working with Producer Omega,
DJ Camper, Tayla Parx, Da Internz and someone else. There’s even two rumors going around that Kayne West is producering a few tracks with her. And another rumor that she and Eminem did a song together because her beau started following him on Instagram not to long ago. But again the latter are rumors.
But overall she is going for an Urban R&B sound.
Producer Omega even twitted the following when asked by a fan what it would sound like and when it would come out he said, “soulful, explosive, ‘oh-s***-she’s-back,’ type of music’ and “she’s sounds just as great as she did a decade ago…soon. ?”

So yeah…staying neutral on the matter. And I’m glad she is too.

  14. Kim.Kesha&Pam February 9, 2017

Say what you may about Christina, but I’m almost CERTAIN, mama is gonna come with the works this album. I feel she KNOWS what she has to do this era. No more playing games…

  15. Music lover February 9, 2017

This album better be epic because I’m waited long enough, no shade her at all just want some new music from Xtina

  16. Cough Cough February 9, 2017

Based on those vocals she gave at the Kennedy center thing a few weeks back, she can keep it. She’s been doing the same exact jazz vocal/scream combo for over a decade now but the only difference is her register has dropped yet she insists on struggling and has does not vocally grow. She peaked early.

    • MUSICHEAD February 9, 2017

Christina’s style of singing has caused damage to her vocal chords. Her technique put a lot of strain on them which will take away the clarity in her voice over time and diminish the power of her belts.

      • Cough Cough February 9, 2017

Not to mention even though she could hit high notes, a lot of times they just were too high for her which is why you can go back to so many of her early years live performances of songs like “lady marmalade” , “come on over” and see her struggle, struggle, struggle at the high climax. That shows she’s been singing out of her natural range for a long time which is why her voice deteriorated quickly. Plenty of people who sing with more runs and complexity and higher keys than her have kept their voices in tact because they used their natural range. Her and Mariah suffered from the same thing- altos trying to be sopranos

    • emanuel mazo February 11, 2017

Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey are no alto.Aguilra has consistently shown bad technique even on notes that aren’t too demanding for any female voice. Mariah Carey has had nodules since childhood, she developed a solid technique years later training with her mother, an opera singer. And she showed countless time to produce great amount of resonance in her upper belts. Overworking, lack of rest are the reasons why Mariah Carey’s voice declined. But even today her technique runs circles around christina’s.

You know what, there’s no one in the way this year other than Katy, so Xtina may have a chance. Bring it, you only have so much time.

    • Chin0 February 10, 2017

Not true, cause pink may drop an album this year as well and taylor

  18. Jasmine February 9, 2017

I think people read too much into instagram posts. Where does it say she is working on an album or finishing an album in the post? Yes we know she is still under contract to release an album for her label but unless the announcement includes an album release date what is the point of these posts on her?

  19. truthteller February 10, 2017

It’s unlikely but I hope this actually comes to something. Stripped was a great album and Back to Basics would have been a very good single disc album

  20. mr.m February 10, 2017

This is the LONGEST break she has ever took.
She is not playin’ this time.
She actually never plays when it comes to music.
BUT this time is different coz she don’t just want to release great music, she wants to be BACK on top.
She’s making sure she is releasing this album on the right time. TIMING IS IMPORTANT.
Bionic is a masterpiece album but it was released on the wrong time. it was during the “gaga’s era” and it was sabotaged by gaga’s team, so is xtina’s image. they destroyed the whole era.
Lotus was a great pop record but the whole era was a complete mess. It feels like she released it without any planning or big promotion. she wasn’t ready.

    She’s aware now. She’s coming and I can’t wait.

  21. Teflon Boy February 10, 2017

I agree with you re: Bionic. An amazing diverse album that suffered because of the NMT video, Gaga comparisons and Perez Hilton sabotage. Lotus on the other hand was very Cher-esque, which I personally hated, plus the fact that she was plus size during the release but refused to dress for her figure. This time I would love her to really cultivate a well thought out image a la Stripped and B2B.., Xtina can slay a concept when she puts her mind to it. Enough with the part-time soccer mom, part-time drag queen look. Hire a stylist, vocal coach and personal trainer three months before D-Day.., then go reclaim your spot. Now is the perfect time..; but not if she’s not prepared.

  22. Indie February 11, 2017

She has expressed many many times even in the early days that she never wants to be one of those artist that just throws an album out every year, she’s old school she wants every album to be a true moment and in order for that to happen you have to take time out to live life so you have real things to write about, I’ve LOVED Telepathy and Change i can’t wait for this album
