Tina Turner Readies New Musical

Published: Wednesday 8th Feb 2017 by David

Tina Turner‘s life story is to be brought to the stage.

Details below…

We have been working on the musical for over a year now and today I am delighted to be able to share our news as we begin the next chapter of our journey.  It has been wonderful to collaborate with Katori and Phyllida and to have my story nurtured by such an amazing creative team is thrilling. London has always had a very special place in my heart and it’s wonderful to be back.

The show will touch down in London in 2018 and will explore her journey to superstardom and the arduous road she was forced to take to reach where she is today.

Tali Pelman, Group Creative Director of Stage Entertainment shared:”

It’s been an honour for us all to collaborate so closely with Tina Turner on this project.  Tina is a music legend and her iconic songs are matched only by the power and inspiration of her remarkable and moving story.  We are delighted to be working with Katori Hall, whose writing has a heart and humour that beautifully captures Tina’s life story, and to have the extraordinary director Phyllida Lloyd at the helm of such a talented creative team.  It’s been exciting today to see the project move into its next phase.

This has the potential to be really good. What’s Love Got to Do It was a great film and Tina’s story could work on the stage.

Tina is unbelievable. Truly one original artist and piece of human body that woman. probably the best female performer ever. You need to watch performances from the 70s and 80s. Unbelievable.

      Beyonce introduced Tina’s music? LMFAO.

      • YISI February 8, 2017

They might’ve meant introducing them individually to Tina. There are plenty of new school artist that introduce the younger generation to the old school pioneers. So bitter and upset over nothing.Seek help,to obsess over someone you supposedly hate isn’t normal or sane behavior.

    • JOHNVIDAL February 8, 2017

So this is about Tina Turner but with the countless incredibly real and outstanding performances you have by Tina Turner when she was at least a little bit younger somehow you still managed to make it about Beyonce and post a performance with Tina so out of her prime? That´s the best you can do when talking about Tina? Ugh…

    • oopsUPsideDaHead February 9, 2017

She stepped on Tina’s feet with her big A S S feet
Tina was in so much pain

Tina is the reason for Janet and Beyoncé. Therefore, I thank her immensely.

    • Jasmine February 8, 2017

Maybe Bey but not Janet. Michael Jacson helped Janet and they have similar styles and vocals. Paula Abdul helped Janet too.

Tina was my first idol when I was 4. I´m serious. I wasn´t born and I´m not here for nonsense and mediocrity lol
Anyone who want to understand the power of Tina and what a beast and force of nature born to perform with an unique and original style should watch Tina performing in her heyday (even though she slays to this day). I´ll leave some links (some of them when she was 50 years old already no less):
