Chart Check [Billboard 200]: Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ Dominates For 2nd Week

Published: Wednesday 22nd Mar 2017 by Rashad

Ed Sheeran‘s blockbuster new album, ‘Divide,’ adds another week to its run atop the Billboard 200. After debuting to the sum of 451,000 last week, the project – despite seeing a 60% drop in sales equivalence this week – still managed to outdo competitors to maintain hold of the tally’s top spot.

Billboard reports:

÷ (Divide) holds on to the No. 1 slot for a second week on the Billboard 200 chart, as the set earned 180,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 16, according to Nielsen Music. That’s down 60 percent compared to its debut frame, when it launched atop the list with 451,000 units.

÷ sold 87,000 in traditional album sales in its second week — down 73 percent compared to its starting sales stanza of 322,000.

ED isn’t really dominating, especially if you compare his sales to Rihanna’s and Adele’s ( both who released their albums a year ago).

I also find him to be a try hard and kinda annoying.

Funny coz he just sold 3 times in real album units first week than what Rihanna did. How are Rihanna´s sales better????? LMAO These delusions need to stop. Anti is only there again and again thanks to the joke that are the new rules. Anti would have gone from Billboard a couple of months after release if based only on SALES. All of those other albums have sold more than hers, including Lemonade. And by far. I don´t know why this is still some type of debatable thing for some people. Delusion at its finest.

Where’s Lemonade though????…. the Grammy Winning, Critically acclaimed, worldwide best seller, iconic and game changing album……….. maybe Longevity isn’t part of it.

I believe Lemonade is not on Apple Music or Spotify which is why it’s not charting as high compared to 25 and Anti.

Not sure why Bey hasn’t released it on these platforms yet

matter of fact, i really LIKE several songs on the lemonade. Unfortunately i wasn’t available on Spotify, therefore, i’d illegally downloaded it into my phone. Aint gonna buy the individual track as i’m paying Spotify monthly. If she keep on sticking to the same strategy, her music will be out of touch with the young generations. Most of my friends don’t even know any songs from the Lemonade album. The last song they can remember is Drunk In Love which was a big radio hit back in the day.

She’ll wait till it’s 1 yr old just like self titled. She might add a few more track on it too, just to tide people over for the alledged joint album
