Fresh from announcing a new tour, Mary J. Blige gave the Today Show Summer Concert Series a preview of what to expect with two rousing performances.
The R&B royal rocked the full-to-capacity New York crowd with ‘Thick Of It’ from her latest album ‘Strength Of A Woman’ and fan favorite ‘Family Affair.’

While enjoyable for the most part, there were corners of her vocal that made for a difficult listen.
Hopefully, she rests up after this full-on press run and re-charges ahead of the tour.

Never been a fan of Family affair as far as thick of it goes I think is one of the best songs Mary has done it fits the current events of her life and the song itself is a great song. Overall Mary gave a solid performance here.

I enjoyed it. And her voice wasn’t too far off from what she always sounds like, no shade. She always has a few off moments. I think a lot her trouble these days is stamina and running out of air. No air = off key and missing notes. I wish she sang the “You + Me” song. Like that better than “Thick of It.”
