Justin Bieber: Poor Ticket Sales Prompt Tour Cancellation?

Published: Wednesday 26th Jul 2017 by David

With over 20 million units sold worldwide Justin Bieber’s chart record remains the envy of many a Pop prince.

Alas, a new report unleashed today suggests the same can’t be said for him as far as filling stadiums is concerned.

Sources at AEG Presents, the company behind his ‘Purpose World Tour‘ have revealed that execs aren’t bothered by Bieber’s decision to cancel its next set of dates because they weren’t selling.

Billboard shares…

Company sources say, overall, the 154-concert tour was very successful, but some of the final dates weren’t selling that well. After playing sold-out arena dates all over the country, Bieber might have been pushing his luck trying to return and play stadium shows without releasing a new album, sources say.

Just one of the 14 shows left on the tour was a sellout, and in nearly every market, 5,000 to 12,000 tickets per show were available on the secondary market, often priced below face value. That made it very difficult to sell any additional tickets, and in many markets there were large sections of the stadium that were unsold.

These talkative sources added:

If the sales were better, we might have pushed a little harder to try and convince him to finish the tour.

Fortunately, Bieber pocketed a sweet $68 million from dates he committed to playing this year and is unlikely to face any legal lashings from AEG as both parties agreed to the cancellation.
