Chart Check [Hot 100]: Taylor Swift Ties Own Hot 100 Record With ‘Ready’s Top 5 Debut

Published: Wednesday 13th Sep 2017 by Rashad

‘…Ready For It,’ the latest release from Taylor Swift‘s highly anticipated new album, ‘Reputation,’ is causing quite the stir despite having only one full tracking week to its credit.

Already occupying the top slot on charts with the set’s first single, ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ a look at this week’s charts see her name penciled in again with ‘…Ready’ as it made an impressive #4 debut on this week’s Hot 100.  The tune – produced by Max Martin & Shellback – was helped to a seat at the top 5’s table thanks to a handsome mix of streaming and downloads (approximately 135,000).  With its commercial performance, Swift not only joins an exclusive club of women who have had concurrent top 5 singles over their careers, but she also joins an exclusive club of hitmakers that have had two singles sell over 100,000 copies in the same week.  All of this before ‘…Ready’s video drops!

In late 2014, the pop darling made history for becoming the first female artist to replace herself at the Hot 100’s summit when her hit, ‘Blank Space,‘ took the place of its predecessor, ‘Shake It Off.’  Could she be readying a repeat?

Time will tell.  Until then, tuck in below to see who joins her in the top 25 on this week’s refreshed TGJ  Chart Check…

Taylor played this whole victim game to the T. Her album is gonna debut with first week sales that may rival Adele

Is it just me who doesn´t find the numbers in this post impressive at all? So with all the help of nowadays rules and free streamings and all, and supposedly being the biggest girl after Adele in the USA atm… her second song to be released only seels 100k first week and debuts at #4? I know the other song already debuted at #1… but I repeat, these artists have all the help in the world to top singles charts now.
I´m not impressed by any of this. And especially, not by her talent (not necessary to reply to my comment in outrage, it´s just a feeling I get reading this post).

These streams saving mofos! Not impressed cause Bodka Yellow just went gold so streams keeping it up there and Taylor numbers aren’t impressive either ? Both songs are trash

Streaming has hurt the industry itself but has helped so many artists who probably would not sell as much with out the benefit of streaming.

White girl mediocrity wins again. Good job , Taylor.
