The reality of Miley Cyrus‘ predicament seems to be having a stinging effect on the singer.
Indeed, despite initial promise, her stripped back reinvention with new album ‘Younger Now’ hasn’t garnered appreciation from critics or fans; the latter of which have not been rushing to buy the set as they did with prior projects.
During an interview with on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show today, she offered a reaction of sorts to the matter.
See what she had to say below…
Chatting to Stern, Cyrus moaned:
“I f*cking hate the charts, who are you to tell me if my music is good or bad”
Shortly after though, eagle-eyed responders collated a series of tweets from the star that suggest…otherwise:
The reality is that the charts and sales do matter, especially in the Pop sphere. They oft have a direct impact on touring ability and other means of brand maximisation. Hence, we’re not quite sure we buy her schtick, which sounds like convenient spin in light of her soft sales.
She a fake ass b****. A Fraud
I Understood What She Meant! I Said This On The Jhene Aiko Post When TGJ Posted Her First Week Album Sales. Just Because An Album Doesn’t Sell, Doesn’t Mean It’s A Horrible Album. Jhene’s Album Is FIRE!!!!! I’m Actually Surprised Miley Didn’t Get At Least 100k In The first Week. The Album Was OK, But Not 30k << Get It? 3(0K)? LMAO
The charts hate you too bytch.
Lmao she didn’t hate them or have that philosophy when she was number 1.
She thought she was going to debut at number one after that fake “I changed” gimmick ??? It worked for Justin Bieber but not you ?????
☕️lol
GIRL toodles lol ?
Everybody says things like this. She was obviously frustrated with her chart position and she didn’t like what she saw. Let’s all be real….we all change our minds…and we all struggle with conflicting thoughts. I get what she’s saying. The thing is ….her new album is pretty good and her voice sounds great.
Also, the comments on this site…and many social media sites like it are so gross and beyond unnecessary. The hate that is spewed in these comment sections is a reflection of the world we live in today. People need to look in the mirror and evaluate themselves before shittin on other people. How you gonna win when you aint right within?
She hate it now because her music is not at the top of it. I hate them too, music Charts are not longer needed, the whole system is pointless, at this point is not an achievement to have a #1 song on the charts, but rather an embarrassment, if I was an artist I would be ashamed even if my songs charted on the hot 100.
I feel you on this! It’s different when you’re number one when artists like Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Phil Collins, Depeche Mode, Nirvana, Madonna, Prince, Peter Gabriel, U2, Michael, Janet and others are on the chart and under you that week! But to be number one when Steve Urkel is number two?

LOL
Those are artist from 20 years ago, get the f*ck over it.
Who am I suppose to name when many of the artists today are lame? Damn Gina, you’re not gonna make me name a bunch of wack artists I don’t know for one, and two don’t care for! Why don’t YOU add to the conversation and name who YOU think I should have named so I can LMAO
Not the point. If there’s so many whack artist, then Miley wouldn’t have a problem going #1 next week. She’s not even #2, she’s up for #5.
LOL, she’s kind of wack too…that album cover alone let’s me know she doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing…
Nothing has changed. The charts reflect what has sold the most during a week timeframe. The only thing that changed is music technology and old heads have to get used to it. 12 inch records -> 6 inch records -> 8 Track -> Cassette Tape -> CDs -> Streaming. Simply put, CDs are outdated technology.
CD’s are not necessarily outdated technology. Streams aren’t even real sales. It’s just physical media & it sales the most in terms of actual albums. It has outpaced digital albums too.
There’s some truth to this but I can also see why some might be hesitant to count streams from YouTube as sales, even if it’s like 1,500 to equal 1 sale.
I like the music that she makes anything beats a lot of the fake Hip/Pop that’s placed on the charts!!
Funny how her previous fake hip/pop album was more successful than her current flop
Charts and sales never matters… when the artist start flopping.
Word!
??
Miley is a young woman. Women are entitled to change their minds. She can love the charts one day and hate the charts the next. It is called a woman’s perogative. Since when can’t people change their opinions? Opinions aren’t written in stone!
It’s called hypocrisy, contradicting, and being bias.
@Mark111 No it is not. In school if one does well in a subject like Chemistry they might love chemistry and want to be a chemist but on a day when they fail a major Chemistry exam they have every right to say “Fck Chemistry”! That does not make them a “hypocrite”, “contradition”, or “biased”. Same goes for musicians. YOU know good and well Miley is only human so stop acting like her previous opinions and current ones are set in stone.
Her album is pretty good but people expected another Bangerz album she constantly changes it up each era I guess ppl prefer “rebel miley”
Lay off. Shes actually talented. yeah yeah her last era was crazy, but I think every star goes through a weird faze in their careers. NOT a fan btw, but i did see her on the tonight show, the girl has talent. As for the charts, they are bs.
This article is dumb. Her tweets about charts has no correlation to her statement. She’s saying she hates charts because people think the chart position indicates if an album is good or bad. She doesn’t agree with it.
Also, even if she doesnt like charts, as an artist under a record label, she has to care and promote her music. So if people call her out for that too, you are just dumb.
With artists like Adele, Taylor, Beyoncé & Drake moving great amounts of pure sales, all sorts of people enjoy them for the art. Streaming is highly overrated. And many of those artists that have great careers charted very nicely with great record sales, even with some of their later albums. Most current music is just trash. Vinyl also surged in terms of sales. So it’s bs. The music/artist have to be of great quality & actually get promoted….
I understand where she is coming from but did she feel the same way when she was topping charts off of thotting and bopping using the urban sound and audience I think not. I like that she is doing what she feels is for her musically but don’t hate the charts all of sudden because things are not going your way.
It´s funny that it is now when I kind of like her. Her first single was my summer guilty pleasure. And her whole persona and way of living (that I have found out not long ago) is inspiring and kind. Her voice suits country. She does damn great singing Dolly Parton´s “Jollene”.
If she just would’ve stayed on the path of just making a Pop record instead of stripping naked and then stripping back and making some country album or whatever. Her music would have been good this time around.
She loved it when she topped didn’t she????
Do I Love The Charts???
Wow I am done with this thread you are just a hate gossip post.
