If folk thought Cardi B‘s success was going be contained at ‘Bodak Yellow,’ then they ought to think again.
Because the reality star turned real rap star is making money moves on a whole other level now.
For, she’s just signed a lucrative publishing deal with Sony / ATV.
Details on the deal below, as well as her latest showing of the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper.
Cardi, who recently became the first solo female rapper to top the US chart in nearly 19 years, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Speaking on the partnership, the company’s co-president Rick Krim said she is “one of a rare breed of unique artists who the industry only witnesses occasionally.”
Sony/ATV senior director of A&R Jennifer Drake added:
“Cardi B is honest, real and refreshing and has the confidence to say exactly what she is thinking and feeling. It’s tangible and you can connect to that. We are so proud to be able to work with a talented artist like Cardi and excited to see her push the culture forward.”
Cardi (real name Belcalis Almanzar) weighed in, saying:
“Oooo, I’m so happy to be with my new family Sony/ATV. ‘Bodak Yellow’ is only the beginning and we’re just getting started.”
Congrats!
In other news, she also took to the stage at the TIDAL x Brooklyn fundraiser last night at the Barclays Center.

From the Pole to the Boardroom. Werkkkkkkkkkk girl.
Can’t be mad she’s making moves hopefully everything will be LEGIT!!
THIS CHICK MADE 40,000 LAST WEEK OFF THIS SONG. THAT’S MORE THAN MOST THESE QUEENS ON THIS SITE. WERKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Lol can’t help but be reminded that these same exact statements were made about Iggy Azalea.
that’s all I think about Iggy had an awful sophomore slump her second record couldn’t even get off the ground.
She needs to drop another song soon. If she stays on Bodak Yellow for too long, she’ll more than likely be relegated to one hit wonder status. The difference between her and Iggy is that people actually like Cardi, the urban community is actually behind her and not in the fake way they were “here” for Young M.A. or Dej Loaf. They might actually buy Cardi’s album.
This is going too far
