Chart Check [Hot 100]: Eminem & Ed Sheeran’s ‘River’ Out of Top 40 In Just Second Week

Published: Wednesday 3rd Jan 2018 by Rashad

From the onset of his career Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has been a dominant force in music.  Easily capturing the top spots of both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, his respective releases would also earn high placements on year-end charts with ease.

That nearly two decade year trend came to a halt in 2017 when his latest album, ‘Revival,’ not only delivered the lowest first week sales of his career since his debut album [click here to read more], but the set has also failed to garner a top 10 single to date.  Again, the feat of missing the top 10 all together is one he hadn’t accomplished since the release of 1999’s ‘The Slim Shady LP.’

There was promise when his Ed Sheeran-assisted single, ‘River,’ made quite the splash with a #11 debut on the Hot 100 last week.  Unfortunately, much like Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ partner Beyonce and her ‘Walk on Water’ duet with the rapper, the pull wasn’t enough to keep Em buoyed in the top 20 as this week ‘River’ sank right outside the top 40.

Damn, Edneesha and Beyoncé are both at the top, P!nk had a successful launch that he was featured on, his new album has more features than a DJ Khaled album, but yet no one could save him from flopping like some flip flops worn by Quantasia Sharpton on her way to see Usher smh ??‍♀️

That’s funny u should say that but i bet if it had hit #1 like the one she did with ed sheeran hust did, then it would be Eminem’s hit, right. When the song first cane out the only thing anyone Liked about WAS Beyonce. Nice racist Try, though.* #theQueen unBothered.***

His gimmicks didn’t work this time, people saw right through it. So it’s clear that it’s not Beyonce or Ed the reason he’s flopping, it’s Em, but I been saying that his only past hits with both clinging to Rihanna, but his fans were saying that she needed him. Ha! He’s not much of a standout since we have many white rappers now and the release around the holidays gimmicks been dried up. On to the next, no one is above flopping.
