Late 2017 saw Toni Braxton reemerge onto the R&B scene with word she was hard-at-work on her 7th solo studio album, currently titled ‘Sex & Cigarettes’ (reportedly due February 2018). As the cut’s lead single, ‘Deadwood,’ earned its fair share of thumbs up from critics and her legion of staunch supporters – affectionately called #ToniTigers – the Grammy-winner is undoubtedly hoping to use some of that momentum to fuel interest in other releases leading up to the launch of ‘Cigarettes.’
Tapping ‘Baby You Can Do It’ co-star Birdman to assist, it appears the two have done it again thanks to the hip-hop fueled cut, ‘Heart Away.’ Produced by London On Da Track, the tune – a cover/remix of Derez Deshon‘s ‘Hardaway’ – hears Braxton spit some of her most braggadocious lyrics to date.
Is Birdman helping the songbird tap into her inner thug? Listen inside and let us know:
If the song will be granted single status or even featured on ‘Sex & Cigarettes’ is yet to be confirmed, but what has been evidenced is A) Toni and Birdman are clearly working together and B) her new project may contain elements of more contemporary Urban sounds.
Either way, roll on ‘Sex & Cigarettes.’ We can’t wait!
