Mathew Knowles is keen to address how the treatment of black women historically has led to their erasure (or lightening) in Pop culture.
How he’s doing it? With a new book named ‘Racism: From the Eyes of a Child’ in which he bares all on how his difficult childhood informed his view on black women and the direction he encouraged Beyonce to go in as she sought superstardom.
His latest promotional stop? ‘Good Morning Britain.’
We have urban radio and we have pop radio. When we look at pop radio we can look, I don’t use Beyoncé or Solange my younger daughter, I really talk about Mariah Carey and others, Rihanna, that it’s just a known fact, if we look over the last ten years, and we look at colourism – which is discrimination based on the shade of colour – it’s a fact.
‘It’s a fact that Beyoncé or any of the other artists, Alicia Keys, I can go on and on, a shade of colour does make a difference in pop radio.

Beyonce went a very long time without speaking to her dad yet alone support him financially. Matthew was out her selling “become the next Beyonce” classes for $100. When you have a 500million network daughter, that you made a star, you shouldn’t have to be selling $100 classes.
Beyonce don’t owe her father nothing but respect of being her dad. She paid him well and he still stole much from her when he was her manager. Life goes on and now she has a family that she is responsible for, her 3 children and if her dad stole large amounts of money from her and also receive 15/20 % from being her manager and now he’s broke from being unwise sorry for him. Beyonce is not obligated to take care of her dad because he quit his 6 figure job to manager her, he was paid very well.
Beyonce did not cut him out of anything. Matthew owns the copyright to most of Destiny’s Child merchandise, music, etc. Matthew makes plenty money off of the Destiny’s Child brand. He also makes royalties off of a young Beyonce solo artist brand. Beyonce now manages herself through Parkwood entertainment. She is a grown woman and does not need to live under her father’s thumb.
