As we reported here, Grammy-winning diva Beyonce scored a leading role in the highly anticipated live action remake of Disney classic, ‘The Lion King.’ Sharing top billing with Donald Glover (‘Simba‘), the film – which sees a cast list that boasts names like James Earl Jones, Alfre Woodard, Seth Rogen, and many more – is set for a summer 2019 release.
Ahead of its premiere, fans were curious if the revamp – much like ‘Beauty and the Beast’ before it – would feature tunes from the 1994 original. Much to their delight, music legend Elton John (who helmed the original’s soundtrack alongside Tim Rice) has confirmed the new film will see reworked versions of some of the film’s beloved classic tunes.

Beyoncé definitely doesn’t have overdone vocals antics. Hell, we been wishing for her to give us us overdone vocal antics AND acrobatics like she use to before she started experimenting heavy with pop (2008, 2011 exempt).

Right! Maybe he just forgot to mention it…Overall though I really don’t see why there is such a huge market for these remakes. Jungle Book was good cause it expanded upon things the original either hinted at or omitted from the book. Beauty and the beast was horrible yet made a billion off the brand alone as this one will likely do. Angelina Jolie was good as Maleficent but in a bad movie. Cinderella was good too though. Overall I just think the original is perfect and to even attempt to remake it is absolutely ludicrous.

I like Beyonce and Elton John. I think the original was a classic. I think the remake will be great as long as Elton John produces the whole album like he did the first. It’s like Elton John needs to get free reign to put his magic on it. I hope Beyonce is not going to sing on every song because the original had multiple women sing on the album. I like variety.

As of right now I’m skeptical because I have honestly hated every Disney live remake thus far… so my hopes are low. And no it’s not nostalgia speaking.
no shade — Beyonce doesn’t need to be added to the classic LION KING material. it’ll be as unnecessary and god awful as when artists attempt to rework timeless Christmas Carols; ruining the melody with all of their ridiculous runs and screaming and voice “tricks”. NO!… just NO. let her create new, original songs for the film, but leave the classic LION KING songs alone!

I hope Beyonce is taking voice acting classes tho. But adult Nala doesn’t have many lines, so that’s good.
They’re probably gonna go the broadway route where nala has more to do, agreed about the voice over lessons but I doubt she will.

I agree. He is so talented, s***, and querky all at the same time. He should have had a couple songs on the soundtrack. I would have liked a couple solo songs and one track with him and Kendrick.

So Beyoncé will change one or two words and then get her name put in the credits. Then Jay Z and Co will start saying she wrote a musical score.
It’s called power.. if the people doing the film ,music ,the soundtrack agree that means your opinion is void.. beyonce will be credited just because of her presence she has nothing else to do. It’s called power,she’s a treasure, she’s a brand, oh yes chica loca she will b credited and will slay In that movie chica listen it’s black power . Do your part time job and make the queen relevant until she retired at 60 years old ?
That´s a pity. It was good as it was. Look at the new version of the song for Beauty and teh Beast. People cared more about Celine´s new little song for last year film than the new version by Ariana and John Legend. That music from those movies was quality (in ways Frozen wishes) and also huge HITS at the same time. This new live action versions of Disney classics are not making any splah. They are making money but zero impact. You can only do that once with the same thing.
Beyonce is very careful and full of proud so I´m sure the result will be good enough (she would put herself ina bad position if not). But still, some classics are kind of untouchable.
Oh and if someone needs to be praised for the original score too, really praised, that´s Hans Zimmer. What a pucking monster that guy. Almost all my fave scores were made by him.
