Before Friday (March 13), Beyonce and Rihanna were the only two Black female acts who could boast having sold over 100 million singles in the United States.
Thanks to a slew of recent updates at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), now SZA can boast membership in the exclusive group.
Last week, the RIAA took to press to announce a whopping 29 titles from her discography got certification upgrades with the standouts being the ‘SOS‘ singles ‘Snooze’ and ‘Kill Bill‘ – both now certified Diamond.
For context, “Diamond” denotes equivalence of 10 million units sold in the U.S.
The updates push her cumulative single sales to 120.5 million in the country, making her only the third Black female act in the RIAA’s 73-year history to have crossed the 100 million singles-sold threshold after Rih (199 million) and Bey (161.5 million).
Among all women, SZA currently sits behind Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift (137.5 million), Ariana Grande (124 million), and Katy Perry (121.5 million).
