‘God’s Plan’ has proven itself a Godsend for Drake as its absolute dominance over the Billboard Hot 100 has been unrelenting.
Debuting at the top spot in late January 2018, the song’s entry into the top 10 was accompanied with news the rapper had made Billboard history for becoming the first act to ever simultaneously debut two songs in the top 10 on more than one occasion (click here for more details). Now, 9 weeks after debuting at #1, the Boi 1da-produced cut is not only still enjoying views from the tally’s summit, but has also been greeted with news of more unmatched chart stats.
Two years after his megahit, ‘One Dance,’ helped him dance past Michael Jackson‘s record for ‘longest consecutive simultaneous run at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 among solo males’ (click here to read more on that), Drizzy can now celebrate he’s become…
…the first male soloist to have tallied two 10-week No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in a lead role, as “God’s Plan” reigns for a 10th week (encompassing its entire run on the survey so far). The star’s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla, ruled for 10 weeks in 2016.
“God’s Plan,” meanwhile, is just the 36th No. 1, of 1,071 total in the Hot 100’s 59-year history, to have led for at least 10 weeks, and the fifth to have spent at least its first 10 weeks on top.
