Ouch! Gospel Community Erupts After Wendy Williams Slams The Clark Sisters

Published: Thursday 19th Apr 2018 by Rashad

Mincing words has never exactly been a prized personality trait of ‘Queen of All Media’ Wendy Williams.

The daytime talk show host – whose seen her Twitter mentions absolutely lit up in the past for disparaging remarks about the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and many more – is certainly no stranger to seeing those very words upset some devoted fan bases in her day.  But, despite the harsh social media draggings she’s endured for ruffling the feathers of members of those respective groups, none have seemed to take her to task like the gospel community after she took to her comfy chair to slam The Clark Sisters.  That’s right, the legendary Clark Sisters.

The quartet of female gospel singers (cited by everyone from Beyonce and Mary J. Blige to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston as direct influences) found themselves at the center of an all out Twitter eruption when Williams commented yesterday (April 18) they needed to ‘step up their game.’

See the video that set tongues wagging then read some of the ongoing online attacks:

Some say gospel singer/comedienne Lexi took it too far when she took aim at Williams’ health in her clap back. See the shocking video here:

Yep. I said it. And To all you @wendyshow fans, you already know what time it is. You’ll be BLOCKED w/dumb comments. And to those who are super Christians you’ll get the same if you get to deep. It’s my page. Be blessed. #christiansreadtoo #haveaseatsir #pettysaintsstandup

The hoopla prompted Clark Sister member, Stellar Award-winning songstress Dorinda Clark Cole, to subtly clap back (seen above).  She wasn’t the only one.  TCS member Karen Clark Sheard‘s daughter, the Stellar Award-winning Kierra Sheard, also threw in her two cents (seen below):

If Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey site these women as Icons, they must can sing there face off…..even if they look like a bunch of drag queens doing shows in Dupont Circle for tips.

Let’s not be disrespectful! This Women are beautiful highly anointed and just downright Nice people I’ve met them on several occasions! When you think of harmony their name should be in the dictionary!

      • Bam April 19, 2018

Hmm. No disrespectful is how they treat their sister Denise as though she isn’t a clark. It was beyond horrible for them to shut her out cause she got pregnant before marriage while they now have children who have done the same more than once…I’ll respect them when they bring out their sister and stop being hypocrites.

These girls been making albums since they were young teens in the 70’s till name ! Their last album together 10 years ago stayed at number 1 on the gospel charts for 7 weeks Also won some Grammy’s for the project that same album is currently at #2 on gospel iTunes Charts and #27 on the main charts Wendy should keep her mouth off Gods children

Get her all the way together Kiki, she needs peace of mind, successfull rest and some sense, not too much, just a little. The Clark sisters were the first gospel quartet to be nominated for a Grammy in the R&B Category,Mariah Carey specifically requested a tribute performance for her BMI honors occasion from The legendary Miss Karen Clark, being the youngest of the fold,Jayz only recently sampled one of their records, and they are still relevant in and outside the gospel community decades later. Uh uh Miss Wendell,God don’t like ugly, else you might be back on that hospital bed real soon now, don’t mess with the saints, take your meds and suck your husband D***,so he can stop giving it to these h*** outhea!!!

I’m a die hard fan of the Clark Sisters so there’s alot I can say but…Wendy literally sat on national TV and straight lied about them not being #1. They are still touring of their last #1 album from 11 years ago, that skyrocketed to #6 on iTunes after she lived on them. Wendy what the hell are you doing? You basically just put more money in there pocket from that #1 album that houses a #1 &#2 Billboard single! The Devil is using anybody now days.

But when she says something positive it does not garner the nearly the same amount of attention. After Coachella she declared that Beyonce is the best performer EVER, of those who are ALIVE OR DEAD. And this is coming from Wendy…concerning Beyonce, the biggest compliment she could have given her and not a peep about it was made. Guess that’s why Wendy had to throw shade every now and then.

  9. JA_LA April 19, 2018

I guess I’m the only one that didn’t see this as shade to the Clark Sisters, but more shade to the industry and consumers that would allow for Snoop to get the #1 spot out of all the other gospel artists out there.
She used the Clark Sisters as an example, and posed a rhetorical question as to would that make a gospel artist or group upset.
Yes, she was incorrect about them not having a #1 album, but she actually posed it as a question…and the “step up your game” comment was more of commentary on the state of the music industry and what it takes to get a #1 if Snoop can go into gospel and take a #1 spot.
After the “step up your game” comment she said “or something” as to say “I don’t know what else it would take to beat out someone like Snoop to get a #1 gospel, but gospel artists need to figure it out”
Just because someone doesn’t praise someone, it doesn’t mean they are shading them – she was making a point about the industry (in the Wendy way) that obviously went over everyone’s head.

LOL These fake Christians coming on social media with their satanic voices. LOL Thank you for reminding us just how fake the church people are. What Wendy said was really not that serious more like a funny joke, in the context she used it. Get over it!!!
